Show-stoppers and headliners were spotlighted at this year’s Metro-Mesa League track and field championship meet May 2 at Otay Ranch High School. Bonita Vista High School senior Anthony Wise collected four medals (three of them gold and one silver) while Eastlake sophomore Jaeyln Williams was not to be out-done with three individual gold medals. Chula Vista is roughly between downtown San Diego and the border with Tijuana. Visitors to Chula Vista often have relatives, or friends living here. On April 26, San Diego Association of Governments announced that after a nationwide search, the SANDAG Board of Directors appointed Mario Orso, the current chief deputy director of the California Department of Transportation District 11 as the new SANDAG CEO. Metro-Mesa League championship banners were on order for either the host Bonita Vista Barons or visiting Eastlake Titans — or both — in both sports.
