Nearly 45 years after her murder, a homicide victim in Rancho Cucamonga has been identified using DNA. Karen Marie Heverly, 16, was found by a worker in a vineyard near 8th Street and Rochester Avenue on June 7, 1979, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said in a news release. "The victim was found to have sustained traumatic injuries and the manner of death was determined to be a homicide," the release said. A Rancho Cucamonga man is dead after he was hit by a vehicle Saturday night. The man, a 67-year-old whose name has not been released, was walking near the intersection of Base Line Road and Klusman Avenue at about 9:30 p.m., the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said in a news release. A gray Toyota Rav4 that was headed east in the No. 1 lane of Base Line Road struck the northbound man after "the driver of the Toyota did not see the pedestrian," the release said. A Rancho Cucamonga community is in mourning Saturday after a horrific car crash claimed the lives of a brother and sister in the late afternoon on Friday. Elias and Sarah Cruz, 17 and 14 respectively, were killed when Elias, who was driving, lost control of a car around 4:25 p.m. Friday before crashing into a pole and then a tree in the area of Wilson and Haven Avenues. A teenager was arrested after a dangerous pursuit through Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday. The suspect was only identified as a 15-year-old boy by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
