PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- An inch doesn't seem like much, but it's making a big difference for vehicles going in and out of the Oasis Mobile Country Club -- a mobile home community for senior citizens along Prairie Avenue on the city's south side.
To accommodate the city's repaving of the busy street last summer, workers rebuilt the concrete driveway for the park -- but it's now an inch higher than it should be, the city confirmed Monday.

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) - Pro-Palestine protests continue to break out on campuses across the country, and now one university in southern Colorado has joined that list.
Students at Colorado State University Pueblo took to the Fountain Plaza on campus Tuesday afternoon, calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war, and asking their university administration to divest from any and all companies and institutions that support Israel.

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) - The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) took in 38 cats after the city shut down a motel in Pueblo.
HSPPR says that in the process of shutting down the hotel, several rooms were found with pets inside, including one room containing 38 live cats. Animal Law Enforcement was dispatched for assistance, and all cats were brought to HSPPR because they had nowhere else to go.
Most of the cats have been surrendered to HSPPR and they are working to evaluate the medical needs of all the animals involved.

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) - A multi-agency operation was conducted at the Val-U-Stay Inn in the 2000 block of N. Hudson Ave in Pueblo.
Police, working with the city, removed dozens of people after the property failed to secure a valid lodging license.
The City did say that the declaration of temporary housing and shelter emergency that begins today at 7 p.m. and ends at 7 a.m. on April 28, is connected to the operation.

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Pueblo County marijuana cultivators are expressing their concerns over perceived inaction by the Pueblo County Commissioners on not allowing them to sign new licenses to grow and produce cannabis.
A vote by the three commissioners has been delayed twice in the last week, a vote that would allow the commissioners to review and sign off on new licenses for cannabis cultivators who previously held a license. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Given the recent increase in pothole complaints, it's nice to bring drivers a more positive development.
According to AAA Colorado, Colorado Springs -- as of late Thursday morning -- ranked second in the U.S. for having the lowest average gas prices; last week, the city was number one.
But you may want to fill up now, because that trend is quickly changing.
AAA spokesman Skyler McKinley said that the average price for a gallon of unleaded gas in Colorado, is $3.16 -- well below the national average of $3.67.
Only Mississippi is cheaper on average.

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) - There is a large police presence near an RV park on the south side of Pueblo.
The scene is on Lake Ave. near Fort's RV Park.
Pueblo Police Department (PPD) says that officers were responding to reports of animal cruelty. The suspect who was contacted had a warrant for his arrest and when officers tried to take him into custody the suspect produced a handgun. Officers then fired at the suspect who was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
PPD says that two officers are currently on administrative leave and the scene is being processed.

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Minutes before a live report on the city's east side Tuesday, Cynthia Hopkins drove up to KRDO 13's The Road Warrior crew, wearing her bathrobe as she explained how agitated she was about pothole damage to her car.
"I hit a pothole and damaged my front end," she shouted through the early morning wind on Saratoga Road. "It's going to cost me $1,300 to repair it."
We haven't heard of potholes being the problem in the Steel City, that they are in Colorado Springs.

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- The peak of the road construction in southern Colorado has arrived with warmer spring temperatures and a major repaving project on I-25 through the Steel City.
Officially beginning Monday, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will repave ten miles of the freeway between the Eagleridge Boulevard exit on the north end, south to the Stem Beach Road exit.
