A Fontana man has been arrested six months after he allegedly shot another man's legs in Colton. Roberto Ruiz, 28, was arrested at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday in Fontana, the Colton Police Department said in a news release. Six months prior, on Oct. 1, 2023, Ruiz shot a 24-year-old Riverside man at 2250 W. Mill St., resulting in "severe injuries to his lower body," the release said. That man was treated for his wounds at a local hospital. Police did not say how Ruiz was identified as the shooter, nor what may have preceded the attack. Two Southern California newborns were released from the ICU and headed home just in time for the holidays after an unforgettable birth story. The parents of 6-week-old twins, Mason and Madison Sanchez, recalled the day the babies were brought into the world. A suspect believed to have brandished a firearm before running from officers was fatally shot by police in Fontana Wednesday. The shooting occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Mango Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. Inland Empire business owner sentenced to 2 years in prison for underpaying taxes

A San Bernardino County business owner has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for underpaying his taxes by almost $170,000. Filemon Bernal, 64, of Fontana, must also pay nearly $277,000 in restitution to the IRS, according to a press release from the agency. He will report to prison by Nov. 20. In May, Bernal pleaded guilty to one count each of subscribing to a false tax return and willfully failing to file a tax return. A Rialto man was arrested Wednesday for killing another man in a hit-and-run before a Rialto Police officer also ran over the victim's body. Bryan Perez, 23, was arrested after police allegedly connected his 2003 Ford Explorer to Sunday's fatal hit-and-run, the RPD said in a press release. Shortly after 4:30 a.m., an RPD officer drove over an object in the roadway of the 800 block of Rialto Avenue east of Spruce Street. A street food vendor was hospitalized after being violently struck by a hit-and-run driver in Fontana. The victim, Yasmini Camacho, 40, was crossing the road while pushing his food cart near Arrow Route and Hemlock Avenue around 9:10 p.m. on Aug. 3. Camacho had been selling corn and shaved ice from his cart when a driver struck him before speeding away from the scene.  Camacho was left lying on the street with serious head, leg and ear injuries. A missing toddler who was abducted out of Fontana on Thursday was found safe. Fontana Police identified the suspect as Alexus Gonzalez, 24, and the boy as Sebastian Sanchez, 5. Gonzalez is the child’s mother, police said. Police are searching for a missing man with autism who disappeared in Fontana on Monday. Fontana police said Mitchell Giovanni, 25, left his home sometime between 7 p.m. on Monday and 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Giovanni is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. Parents and students are expressing outrage after a middle school teacher who was caught on camera using a racial slur has been allowed back on campus at a Fontana school. A San Fernando Valley resident has been convicted of charges related to the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the United States Capitol. Edward Badalian, 28, of Panorama City, was convicted of conspiracy, obstruction of an official proceeding, and entering and remaining in a restricted building after a trial last month, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a news release.
