Kool-Aid McKinstry and Chris Braswell were once teammates on the Alabama Crimson Tide… Now the two men are rivals.
During the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft both McKinstry and Braswell were drafted by NFC South rivals. McKinstry was first to come off the board as the New Orleans Saints decided to bolster up their secondary by drafting him with the 41st overall pick. It was 13 years ago, when the most devastating tornado outbreak of our generation directly impacted the life and property of many in Alabama. I was 24 years old, when one tornado, out of many that day, would turn my life upside down in a matter of seconds. I lost my home and personal belongings to the EF-4 tornado that hit Tuscaloosa directly. That was one tornado, out of 62 in Alabama alone. This shattered the old record for the most tornadoes in one day for our state. The old record was set only a week and a half earlier, on April 15th. 250 people lost their life in Alabama, and thousands s ..read more

The warning process has changed tremendously over the past 12 years with the advancement of Doppler radar. The National Weather Service in Birmingham upgraded their radar to dual pol radar in February of 2012, which is a game changer in the warning process.
John De Block, with the National Weather Service in Birmingham says, “It characterizes the contents in the atmosphere. It tells us whether we’re looking at rain particles or whether we’re looking at Tornadic debris. So, by having that capability to confirm there is a tornado on the ground, we can ramp up that messaging a lot sooner than we ..read more

NEW YORK (AP) — For many music fans, John Oates is most recognizable as one-half of the Grammy-nominated Hall & Oates, the multiplatinum soul-pop duo behind hits like “Rich Girl” and “Maneater” now riven by litigation. But he’s also had a full career as a soloist.
His sixth solo album, “Reunion,” is out May 17. Just don’t consider the title a thinly veiled attempt at getting the band back together — what he recognizes as “a true irony.”
In November, Hall sued Oates, arguing that his plan to sell off his share of a joint venture would ..read more

CHICAGO (AP) — The singer R. Kelly was correctly sentenced to 20 years in prison on child sex convictions in Chicago, a federal appeals court ruled Friday.
Jurors in 2022 convicted the Grammy Award-winning R&B singer, born Robert Sylvester Kelly, on three charges of producing child porn and three charges of enticement of minors for sex.
In his appeal, Kelly argued that Illinois’ former and shorter statute of limitations on child sex prosecutions should have applied to his Chicago case rather than current law permitting charges while an ..read more
