This weekend and the next are your last chances to enjoy Garland Civic Theatre’s latest production, ‘You Can’t Take it with You.’ Remaining performances are Friday, Saturday and Sunday May 3, 4 and 5, as well as Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 10, 11 and 12. Garland announced its participation in the North Texas Community Cleanup Challenge at the March 5 City Council meeting. This friendly competition among North Texas cities runs through May 31, challenging communities to pick up the most litter per resident. GPD investigates death of male found in creek

Sunday, April 21, just after 10:30 a.m., Garland Police Department officers responded to a creek waterway near West Campbell Road and Water Oak Drive to the report of a deceased person located under a bridge. The Garland Fire Department and Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office arrived on the scene to remove debris surrounding the body to ensure a thorough investigation was completed. Achievement Center of Texas will host its Spring into ACTion 5K! May 18 at 10 a.m. The event will be at Montgomery Park at 2905 Edgewood Drive in Garland. This is ACT’s first fundraiser since reopening, and the money raised will go toward a wheelchair accessible van, as well as more off-site community outings. ACT hopes to bring the community together in support of different abilities in a fun way. The result from the Code Compliance Department’s annual inspection of multifamily properties in Garland, the 2023 Multifamily Score Card, is now available. The exterior of every building and a percentage of interiors are included in the annual inspections in an effort to identify any housing standards issues that could affect the health and safety of the residents.
