A longtime ophthalmologist in Connecticut will have to pay back over $1 million and spend time in federal lockup after confessing that he ordered unnecessary brain scans to line his pockets. Hartford County resident Donald Salzberg, age 69, of Avon, was sentenced to one year in prison in Boston federal court on Thursday, May 9. A trio was discovered to be running a shoplifting ring across the state after police caught them attempting to steal food from a Connecticut Stop & Shop. A Fairfield County man has been charged with risk of injury to a child after allegedly firing a gun near the entrance of a playground where numerous children and residents were due to warm, sunny weather. According to the NOAA National Weather Service's Space Weather Prediction Center, a series of solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) began on Wednesday, May 8. CMEs are explosions of plasma and magnetic fields from the sun’s corona. Space weather forecasters have issued a Severe (G4) Geomagnetic Storm Watch for the evening of Friday, May 10. It's the first time a G4 Watch has been issued since January 2005. Security cameras were rolling when two masked thieves ran into a Connecticut jewelry store and smashed their way into glass display cases. A Connecticut man who allegedly shot two people with a pellet gun and then threatened to shoot himself in the head has been charged by police. A man shot by two Connecticut police officers has been charged with alleged attempted assault on a police officer after his release from the hospital.
