I love this quote by Benjamini Franklin which says, “When the well is dry, we know the worth of water.” It takes something to happen for us to sit up and take notice. We don’t really put taking care of ourselves as an essential part of living until we crush with anxiety, depression, fatigue or some other illness relating to poor self-care. This reminds me of three years ago when I was working so hard chasing deadlines that sometimes I only managed 3 hour sleep a night. When this year started I had so much hope and looked forward to the year with much anticipation. As a Christian, I was looking at the promises of year 2020 coinciding with the Jewish year 5780. The promises are great. A new decade, a year of the mouth, a year of blessing. All this changed with the spread of the dreaded covid19 which causes the corona virus.

The COVI19 has brought with an uncertain situation. We do not how long it will take for us to be in isolation. How long the money will, how safe are we and we do not even know the real truth about the pandemic. Its hard enough for any one out there but even tougher for a mom. Children by nature are active beings, they want to be running about and not confined in the house all day long for days on end. So what does a mom do?

How can self isolation affect us?
We are living in trying times because of the corona virus. This has necessitated self isolation as a means of trying to curb the spread of the virus. However, self isolation comes with its own challenges. Living in isolation for such long periods like 14 days can wreak havoc on one’s mental health. It can play with one’s head. The fact that there is no known cure for the virus alone can lead a person to develop anxiety thinking about the likely scenarios which could happen due to the virus developing into full-blown infection.
