A 17-year-old girl died on Friday after being shot in Aurora on April 20, according to a Monday news release from the Aurora Police Department. The shooting happened around 1 a.m. April 20 near the 1000 block of South Blackhawk Street , police say. The teen was critically injured and taken to a freestanding urgent care center and then a hospital. She died from her injuries Friday afternoon, according to the release. The legality of Aurora’s $80 million purchase of a farm and its water rights is disputed by leaders in southeastern Colorado, who say the deal violates a two-decade-old agreement to stop the booming suburban city from using water meant for crops. An Aurora school is closed Tuesday because of a break-in, according to the Aurora Police Department. A staff member reported the apparent burglary and vandalism at Aurora West College Preparatory Academy at 5 a.m., police say.
