For days, weeks now I have been sitting at my desk, tapping away on my keyboard, writing new blog post. A few topics came to mind, I made some attempts but ended up deleting them or not posting. It didn’t feel right. And the reason that it didn’t feel right was that the world is aching right now. So instead, I did what felt right, what felt necessary. With an aching but open heart. Reading articles, listening to BIPOC (black and indigenous people of color) audiobooks, connecting to BIPOC in my area, having the hard conversations with friends and family… Why does it seem so hard for humank ..read more

Strap yourselves in folks! We’re taking a ride down the curiosity-and-complicated-human-nature lane. It’s about to get real. Naked, – not that kind of naked raw and honest literature. Let’s see who of you out there are revolutionaries! Ever since the start of this pandemic, I have felt overall- and I do mean overall– content and grateful. Life has become much more quiet – can I get a ‘whoop whoop’ for no more noisy planes in the sky and just the glorious sound of birds! – and even though I can be a real high-energy extravert when I’m feeling immense gratitude and joy around friends and family ..read more

‘Ok so you work on a ship… in Antarctica… as part of an expedition team… So what does that actually mean? What does your day to day consists of?’  The main questions that pop up when I tell someone what I do for a living.  I’ll admit this one was a hard one to write. There’s so much to write about because no day is the same. The weather changes so quickly down in Antarctica that we have a plan A, B, C…just in case. Landings might turn in zodiac cruises and we might have a spontaneous zodiac outing if we’re near friendly whales. But let’s see if I can walk you through a typical d ..read more
