The demolition is expected to take a year to complete on the 32-acre site and culminates a 20-year wait for redevelopment of the site.   The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) released its annual 2023 Internet Crime Report and accompanying state reports recently, which shows South Carolinians reported nearly $120 million in losses to internet crimes last year. The new report shows a more than $19 million increase in reported losses from the previous year. Seniors, those 60 and older, accounted for the costliest reported losses with $43.7 million stolen from them. The VA has announced that all Veterans who were exposed to toxins and other hazards while serving in the military— at home or abroad—are now eligible to enroll directly in VA health care. This means all Veterans who served in the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Global War on Terror, or any other combat zone after 9/11 are eligible to enroll in VA health care without first applying for VA benefits. Artist’s rendering of the new Columbia Presbyterian Church Columbia Presbyterian Church is moving from Sumter Street in Cottontown to Laurel and Huger streets. The church purchased the former Cogdill Carpets building at 1700 Huger Street at the end of 2022.
