Media Won't Report That Renewable Energy Subsidies Dwarf Fossil Fuel Subsidies
CNSNews

(Getty Images) On April 11, The New York Times ran an article titled, “Why Are Taxpayers Propping Up the Fossil Fuel Industry?” in which the author claims, “Around the world, taxpayers are helping to support fossil fuels through subsidies when their money could be funding green energy transitions instead.” This article should have been printed 10 days earlier, on April 1, under the heading: “April Fool’s Joke!” In reality, taxpayers are not propping up the fossil fuel industry, however, they are propping up the renewable energy industry. According to the World Economic Forum, “Government spe ..read more

(Getty Images) This week, a 16-year-old boy named Ralph Yarl -- black -- accidentally rang the doorbell of an 84-year-old white man, Andrew Lester. According to reports, Lester then shot Yarl twice through the door, wounding him in the head and the arm. According to Clay County prosecutor Zachary Thompson, "I can tell you there was a racial component." This fact pattern immediately sent the salivary glands of the media and the Biden administration into overdrive. Drooling with excitement, the media headlined the Yarl shooting for days; President Joe Biden himself immediately invited Yarl, wh ..read more

Emissions-free Electric Vehicles Are a Fantasy

(Getty Images) New proposed regulations on automobile emissions from the Environmental Protection Agency would require 60% of new car sales to be battery-powered electric vehicles by 2030 and 67% by 2032, compared to fewer than 6% in 2022. The stated rationale: These cars produce fewer carbon emissions than cars with internal combustion engines, emissions contribute to global warming, and global warming poses a threat to the planet and mankind. What the regulations don’t seem to take into account is that electric cars don’t have tailpipe emissions, but their batteries are charged using elect ..read more

(Getty Images) “Sexual conduct involving persons below the domestically prescribed minimum age of consent to sex may be consensual in fact, if not in law.” So says a March report released by the United Nations. In simpler terms, the U.N. is saying that minors can consent to sex, and that this is a human right. This tweet by Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts gets even more to the point. (The Daily Signal is Heritage’s multimedia news organization.) Truly disgusting stuff. The ugly square, gray U.N. building next to the East River in New York City—which began construction in 1949—loo ..read more

Let's Stop Minting Nickels and Pennies
CNSNews

(Getty Images) As more candidates throw their hats into the 2024 Presidential ring, I’d like to offer a proposal that should have immediate bipartisan support: stop minting pennies and nickels. The economic case is a slam dunk. It costs about 1.5-2 cents to make a penny and about 7-8 cents to make a nickel, subject to fluctuating copper, nickel, and zinc prices at a point in time. If we stop using two cents worth of resources to create something worth one cent, and seven cents worth of resources to make something worth five cents, ditching these coins offers a pretty handsome return.  T ..read more
