The Federal Trade Commission is sending over $5.6 million in refunds to Ring customers affected by the security companys privacy data breach. The FTC said Ring allowed employees and contractors to access consumers private videos and failed to implement security protections, enabling hackers to take control of consumers accounts, cameras, and videos. In an initial complaint filed last May, the company was accused of giving employees access to private customer videos without consent to train algorithms. These practices led to egregious violations of users privacy, the FTC said in a press release ..read more

A top Hamas political official told The Associated Press the Islamic militant group is willing to agree to a truce of five years or more with Israel and that it would lay down its weapons and convert into a political party if an independent Palestinian state is established along pre-1967 borders. The comments by Khalil al-Hayya in an interview Wednesday came amid a stalemate in months of talks for a cease-fire in Gaza. The suggestion that Hamas would disarm appeared to be a significant concession by the militant group officially committed to Israels destruction. But it's unlikely Israel would ..read more

Across Oklahoma, communities maintain a "comprehensive plan." Essentially, a guidebook for the city. Muskogee's is up for renewal. Now, leaders are asking for neighbors' input. "This is their plan. We are simply the facilitators to help get their ideas out on paper, and get their voices heard," Jody King, the city's Planning and Development Coordinator said. The Muskogee, of today, is not the Muskogee of 1953, at least according to James Gulley, who's lived in town for all 71 years of his life. "Weve always had these creative people, but weve never had the money," Gulley said. Now, with sales ..read more

Funerals for Faraj Allah Jarjour were scheduled for Sunday and Monday. Instead, his daughter Miriam Jarjour had been desperately calling and emailing as many officials as she could, trying to find his body. "Up until now we have no answers," Jarjour said. The rat hole is gone. A Chicago sidewalk landmark some residents affectionately called the rat hole" was removed Wednesday after city officials determined the section bearing the imprint of an animal was damaged and needed to be replaced, officials said. The imprint has been a quirk of a residential block in Chicagos North Side neighborhood of Roscoe Village for years, but it found fresh fame in January after a Chicago comedian shared a photo on the social platform X. The attention, however, quickly grew old for neighbors who complained about visitors at all hours, sometimes leaving coins and ..read more

After months of anticipation, the cicadas have finally made their grand entrance ... and promptly overstayed their welcome. They've become the talk of one county in South Carolina, but not in the way these little bugs had hoped. In fact, things have gotten so out of hand that people called the police to deal with the buzzing madness. But the Newberry County Sheriff's Office took to social media on Tuesday to let their community know that while those chirping critters might be a bit too loud, it's best to resist the urge to call the cops over their racket. We have had several calls about a nois ..read more

The last Wednesday of April, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, is known as Denim Day. Across the globe, people wear the fabric to support survivors of sexual assault and take a stand against victim blaming. Students at Rogers State University spent April 24 doing just that. "Victim blaming makes my heart hurt," said Cambrey Harrison, a student at RSU. Harrison stopped by RSU's booth for Denim Day. She said events like this are key in supporting survivors of sexual assault and changing attitudes about who's to blame. "It shouldn't matter what the person was wearing.
