Bronx Times

It’s easy to forget that even the pros spend every day learning, and New York Yankees starting pitcher Luis Gil’s most recent outing was a prime example of that. It started when he balked in his first run of Sunday’s series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays with two outs in the third inning to tie the game at one apiece. That call prompted him to stare down at the home plate umpire — a position that caused far more trouble on Monday afternoon — and before it got any worse, manager Aaron Boone paid a visit to the mound. “There’s been a couple times early in the season here where I feel like thi ..read more

Bronx residents and elected officials are weighing in on the proposed new Metro-North stations coming to the Parkchester/Van Nest, Hunts Point, Morris Park and Co-Op City neighborhoods. The project has already been in the works for five years and first broke ground in ..read more

But in an unexpected move, state lawmakers granted Adams renewed authority over the schools during the city’s long-awaited announcement of the state budget on April 20. Bronx Times
by Joe Pantorno

The New York Mets are one of the hottest teams in baseball and their resurgence shows on the fourth edition of our 2024 MLB power rankings.  They are, however, still looking up at two divisional rivals in the Atlanta Braves (our new No. 1) and the Philadelphia Phillies along with the crosstown-rival Yankees, who remain entrenched in the No. 2 spot. The Los Angeles Dodgers have stumbled from their perch, but none have fallen farther than the Pittsburgh Pirates, who had a miserable week. But at least they are not the Chicago White Sox or Colorado Rockies. MLB Power Rankings 4.0 Atlanta Bra ..read more
