It’s a new day in the Bronx. With the installation of a new sign in January at Ferry Point bearing the name “Bally Links,” one of the most globally renowned companies in the gaming and entertainment space signaled its long-term commitment to this dynamic borough. The previous operators did a good job maintaining the property at a high level, and they facilitated a smooth transition. This is one of the city’s crown jewels – a world-class public golf course nestled at the foot of the Whitestone Bridge – and we are so excited to act as stewards for this important community amenity, and usher it i ..read more

Nahshon Dion, a Black trans writer and filmmaker living in the Bronx, knows where to find her happy place — one that unexpectedly reminds her of seeing mountains, waterfalls and horses while growing up in the foothills of the San Gabriel Valley, Calif. For Dion, walks around Crotona Park and Indian Lake bring her back to her youth in Pasadena and Altadena in Los Angeles County. While Dion, 46, said her early childhood was “tranquil and quiet,” her life since then has seen turmoil. For one, it took a few tries over several years for Dion to get and keep a home in New York City — but her home he ..read more

Bronx Times

A four-run spectacle fueled by Aaron Judge’s go-ahead single in the top of the ninth resulted in a come-from-behind 6-4 win for the New York Yankees on Wednesday evening at Rogers Centre, avoiding the sweep at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays. It started with Giancarlo Stanton’s solo shot into the second deck. Then, Gleyber Torres singled and Alex Verdugo doubled to put men on second and third with no outs, still. Oswaldo Cabrera’s groundout brought up pinch-hitter Jose Trevino, whose single to the shallow outfield brought in Torres to tie the game. Anthony Volpe popped up for the second out ..read more

Bronx Times
by Michelle Rabinovich

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: the Yankees’ pitching is less-than-reliable. After a red-hot start to the season, the Bronx Bombers woke up on Wednesday, April 17, the last day of their series against Toronto 12-5 with their third consecutive loss.  Why is that? Foul (ball) Trouble  Carlos Rodon didn’t suddenly pick up a basketball and leave Yankee Stadium for Madison Square Garden, so no, he’s not picking up fouls like a center. Foul balls ate at him in his last outing: after the first inning, Rodon used 32 pitches en route to three outs (including a 12-pitch walk to Bo Bichett ..read more
