Two people were shot in Lancaster on Friday evening, and an armed robbery also occurred shortly afterward. A teen was shot while playing basketball with friends on Gay Street about 7 p.m. Feb. 25. They were playing at the basketball court on Gay Street when they heard gunfire and the teen was hit. Multiple shell casings were found. The recent decision by Lancaster City Council to pay an outside consultant to help it find a new police chief isn’t sitting well with some city residents. A Lancaster man led North Carolina police on a low-speed chase in a stolen dump truck before being arrested earlier this week. A Lancaster resident has written a book on homelessness, based on his work with people living in Boston and Charlotte. Bill Selvitelle has lived in Lancaster for the past three years having moved here from the Boston area. He moved down to be close to family who live in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte.
