HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) — The Board of Education has approved six new lab schools, three of which have ties to either Hampton Roads or Western Tidewater. Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin has been a champion of lab schools as a way of improving secondary education in the state. WINDSOR, N.C. (WNCT) -- The Bertie County Sheriff's Office has arrested three teens in connection with a shooting that injured a man back in March. Bertie County Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin said three teens were taken into custody. They have been charged in the March 31 shooting of a man, who was not identified. The teens have since been taken to the Pitt Regional Juvenile Center in Greenville. On March 31, deputies were dispatched to the 3900 block of Governors Road in Kelford for a report of a man who was found with gunshot wounds. Crews were dispatched around 2:40 p.m. and arrived to find smoke and fire coming from a second-floor window.
