Baggleys Machinery is a family run business based in Norfolk owned by Solly Mansfield. Solly’s wife Fiona and their two sons, Toby and Oliver, are also integral to the company. The Parks Trust are currently facing some serious challenges from Ash Dieback, the fungal disease killing Ash trees. This disease which has already swept across Northern Europe and other parts of the UK is now present across Milton Keynes in the mature woodlands and the city’s younger tree plantations managed by The Parks Trust. CONTROVERSIAL work to axe trees in ancient woodland in Southampton has been halted. Southampton Airport, which owns the land at Marlhill Copse, has confirmed that work to fell some trees at the site has been stopped until June 2. Forestry Independent understands that work has stopped to give the planning committee at Southampton City Council the opportunity to discuss the proposals and the evidence in a public meeting on June 2. The European commission will launch a sweeping effort to tackle the global biodiversity crisis on Wednesday, including a call for 3bn trees to be planted in the EU by 2030 and a plan to better protect the continent’s last primeval forests. The Polish State Forests has launched a pilot project to use Timbeter in the Nowe Ramuki Forest District of the country. The forest district will use Timbeter’s technology and machine learning for measurements, and digital reporting during the pilot project. Tree felling in Christchurch sparks swift council response

SWIFT action has been taken to protect trees in  Christchurch neighbourhood after residents were shocked to see felling taking place near their homes. Anger was sparked among people living in and around Hillside Drive and Foreland Close. Memorial tree stolen from Fort Royal Park in Worcester

A MEMORIAL tree has been stolen from a Worcester park. The stolen tree from Fort Royal Park was the second one planted in memory of Nigel Collinson, who died in January 2014 from oesophageal cancer. The original acer tree was planted just after Mr Collinson died, however, shortly after it was vandalised. The stolen tree was a replacement offered by Aquabio Ltd who planted 170 trees around the city in December 2019. STROUD police have issued a warning about rogue tree surgeons operating in the area. Officers responded to reports of two men who knocked on doors offering their tree surgery skills in Kingscourt, near Rodborough on Saturday at 9.30am.
