WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - Faculty at the University of Kansas has voted to unionize. The United Academics of the University of Kansas represents over 1,550 full-time and part-time tenured and nontenure-track faculty; teaching, research, clinical and online professors; lecturers; curators; librarians; grant-funded research scientists; and other academic staff. Faculty have been voting for the past month. They cited competitive wages, job security, safety and health concerns around aging, as well as unkept classrooms and buildings as major issues. The break is located along Central Avenue between I-135 and Hillside Ave. Water services for homes and businesses between I-135 and Hillside and 3rd Street and Elm Street are currently affected. WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - Another American Legion post opens in Wichita, but this one is somewhat rare. Post #444 at the old Masonic Home-turned Oxford Vista is one of very few that are new. The American Legion says they don't add posts very often because membership is declining. WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- Kansas Humane Society's Director of Communications Jordan Bani-Younes brought in Shortcake, a dog, to KSN's Pet Project on Thursday afternoon. She weighs 56 pounds and is 2 years old. Bani-Younes says Shortcake is really sweet. "She really likes pets. She likes cuddles. She'll give you kisses," said Bani-Younes. WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- Some people claiming to be U.S. Marshals or federal court employees are calling innocent people to scam victims out of money and gift cards. The U.S. Marshals Service says it is a nationwide scam. The usual scheme involves telling the victim they missed jury duty and will be arrested or fined. The caller may claim to be a judge, a court officer, a sheriff's deputy, or a deputy U.S. Marshal. One of the names being used is Officer Whitlock. WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- The organizer of The Dam Jam Music Festival is dealing with a new issue. CJ Wilson says fraudulent websites are popping up and selling tickets that are not redeemable. She says the only legitimate site to get tickets is TheDamJam.com, where a weekend pass will cost you $150. She says at least one fraudulent site is selling the weekend pass for $265. Schools unite to create more nurses for Kansas

Newman University in Wichita and Garden City Community College say there is a shortage of nurses, especially in rural Kansas. So, the two schools are offering a new joint bachelor's degree program.
