Bowhunters are tasked with convincing a mature Tom to go against its natural breeding style and come within range, and then they have to make a clean and ethical shot while remaining undetected. Every single piece of equipment for a turkey hunter matters--especially the broadheads.
Turkey hunting is incredibly tough to start with. The birds have keen eyesight and a relatively small kill zone compared to common big-game animals pursued with compound bows, such as whitetail or elk.
Thus, the small game is going to require a de ..read more

Mystery Ranch has been churning out high-quality, purpose-built packs for everyone from firefighters battling blazes in the wild to mountaineers ascending summits and from active-duty military members to casual hikers since 2000.
The company has also become a top name in the hunting pack game. Although Mystery Ranch has recently launched some innovative whitetail packs--which every deer hunter should check out--its robust load haulers designed for extreme western hunters still dominate.
Based on feedback from backcountry hunters over the past few years, Mystery Ranch bumped the Pop-Up 28 to ..read more

Misses are frustrating part of hunting. How many do you wish you could have a second chance on? The part that hurts the most is that in most instances, you're only going to get one chance at a more mature buck. They simply don't make many mistakes, especially in a state like Michigan, that I can personally attest gets an extreme amount of pressure. It makes the deer incredibly jumpy and wary, even during the early parts of archery season. It's part of what makes this from Joe of Michigan Whitetail Pursuit so remarkable. Just watch as Joe's first shot sails clear over the buck's back without h ..read more

Like any part of a good hunting apparel system, the right rain jacket for hunting can mean the difference between staying in the field or retreating back to your truck when the weather turns. The hardest part of hunting is figuring out the habits of truly big, mature bucks. Those old forest warriors that have been around for more than a few seasons and know how to properly evade a hunter. It takes a lot of strategic thinking and proper stand placement, but it can be done. In today's video, Ben Rising of the Deer Society shows exactly how he did it on a beautiful 180-inch 10-pointer the landowner calls "Scissors." The hunters on this property have been pursuing this buck for years but no one has been able to get close enough for a shot. That is, until Ben comes along.
