Sisters Mia and Leila Raines, Galena residents, took top honors in their respective divisions as the Central Ohio Golf Academy kicked off its summer tour with the Adam Tobias Jr. Open Monday and Tuesday at Denison Golf Club.
Mia won the girls’ 13-15 age group with a two-day total of 158. She carded an 80 on day one, collecting birdies on each of the first two holes, and added a 78 with two more birdies in the second round.
Audrey Keplar finished second in the division with a combined score of 168.

Sam Arnold wins Legacy Championship in playoff.
Sam Arnold of Vineyard Golf Course became the first Section event champion of the year after winning the Legacy Championship on the second playoff hole. Arnold and The Golf Club of Dublin’s Jeff Olson both carded early 1-under-par 71s that held up throughout the day. Both players parred the first playoff hole before Arnold tapped in a birdie on the second playoff hole to secure his first victory of the new season.

Funeral visitation date set for June 9th in Cincinnati

As you may have heard already heard, SOPGA Hall of Famer Bob Harrison, PGA passed away yesterday at the age of 79. Bob was the Head Professional at Clovernook for nearly 40 years from 1971-2007 and was elected into the SOPGA Hall of Fame in 2003. Among his many other accomplishments during his storied career, Bob produced and hosted a Public Access show teaching the swing, rules and etiquette of golf and served on the teaching panel for the PGA of America’s former business schools. The Northern Ohio PGA announces the retirement of Executive Director Dominic Antenucci, PGA, and Junior Golf Director Eileen Antenucci after 20 and 19 years of service in those positions, respectively.

When the PGA Tour announced last week that the John Deere Classic, set to be played July 9-12, had been canceled due to complications with holding the event while following local COVID-19 restrictions, tour officials said they intended to replace it with another tournament. That new event will be held at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, and sponsored by Workday, sources have told Golf Digest.
