2023 has arrived! After a fabulous reading year last year, I have started this year feeling more ambitious and inspired than ever. As a goal-orientated person, I have created a whole subset of targets that are solely related to reading. So, let’s jump in. Read 70 books One of my favourite things to do at the start of the year is to set my reading goal on Goodreads. This year, I set my target to 70 books, which I definitely think is doable, considering I read 75 books last year. Click here to follow me on Goodreads. Happy July everyone! The weather is warm, places are slowly starting to reopen more and more and life is getting back to normal. I’m writing this post from good old Manchester, my hometown. I’ve been back for a few weeks, and I have been enjoying myself, seeing loved ones, and just overall taking it easy. I decided to post something a little out of my normal bookish content. As the title of this post says, I wanted to share my mid-year favourites. I’ve discovered a ton of new items, books, and entertainment this year and thought it would be a fun idea to share them all with you. I decided to s ..read more

It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of reading manga. I have talked about it plenty of times on this blog! I first discovered manga when I was 15 years old, and my best friend recommended a series for me to read. The name of that series was Fruits Basket, and to this day, it’s one of my all-time favourites. The anime is also pretty popular, but I promise, the manga is always better :p In the summer of 2018, I accomplished a lifelong goal of visiting Japan. One of my fondest memories in Japan included visiting the manga museum in Kyoto and learning about the history of manga. I also remember th ..read more

For many people, moving abroad is a lifelong goal. To experience a new culture and way of life is one of the most rewarding, and eye-opening experiences a person can encounter. However, it can also be a little daunting. You are not just stepping outside your comfort zone, but more like sky diving off the edge of everything that you know into a huge, deep unknown. But don’t let that stop you. You will find yourself in a new and exciting city, that may have a different language than the one you speak, eating new food and meeting people from all around the world and different walks of life. It is ..read more

Reading Slump

As we approach the end of the year, I was struck with the sudden desire to open a word document and begin writing for this blog again. It’s been a treacherous couple of months which can be summed up in two simple but painful words. Reading slump. Have you ever wanted to read so bad but every book you pick up or audiobook you listen to, simply doesn’t interest you? Because that has been me during the last couple of months. I have learnt that when I’m feeling like this, there’s no point forcing it. Reading is for pleasure and not a chore. It’s best to wait until I’m in the mood and let things fl ..read more

A Life And Bookish Update!
Tiggy's Books

Hola! Wow! It feels like a century since I actually sat down and wrote something for this blog. Life has been pretty hectic lately; I’ve been swamped at work which leaves me with barely enough time to read or write *cries* I do miss it! This is therapeutic for me and I can’t shake it from the back of my mind when I don’t post in a while. It’s been extremely hot here in the UK this past week. Us Brits can’t handle the heat very well. That, combined with no air conditioning has made me want to collapse on my bed after work, in front of the fan, and not pick up a single book. I can’t relax when I ..read more

July 2020 Reading Wrap Up

This month I had a week off from work where I got a huge chunk of my reading completed. Man, if I didn’t have to work, I would have waaaaay more free time to read and relax *cries* I have also gotten into the habit of listening to more audiobooks at work. I usually listen to them at 1.8 speed so there are times I finish a whole audiobook in a day! Love it! It also helps pass the time quicker and I find it super enjoyable. I read some fantastic books this month. I caught up on a couple of books that have been sat on my bookshelf gathering dust and I also made a trip to the bookstore for the fir ..read more
