SALISBURY – Salisbury Police are still looking for answers following two separate shootings, just hours apart and only three minutes away from one another. “It’s very frustrating that the community is impacted by this senseless violence. And we need the community members that saw it to step up and tell us,” said Major T.J. Crews with the Salisbury Police. MCBEE, S.C. – One person died following a fatal car crash on Thursday afternoon in Chesterfield County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. It happened around 6:29 p.m. on Thursday, April 25th on SC 151 near Spraught Lane. Police said a 1996 Volvo tractor trailer and a 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck were traveling south on SC 151. The Volvo vehicle attempted to make a right turn when it was struck by the Chevrolet vehicle. The Chevrolet driver died on-scene as a result of the crash. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The Federal Trade Commission on Thursday voted to restore “net neutrality” rules that prevent broadband internet providers such as Comcast and Verizon from favoring some sites and apps over others. The move effectively reinstates a net neutrality order the commission first issued in 2015 during the Obama administration. In 2017, under then-President Donald Trump, the FCC repealed those rules. ASHEVILLE, N.C. – A 51-year-old sex offender was sentenced to over 31 years in prison after traveling from Asheville to Fort Mill to engage in sexual activity with a minor, according to the United States Attorney’s Office. Michael John Worley, a registered sex offender, was sentenced to 382 months (31.8 years) in prison on April 25th. Man Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter In Fatal Pedestrian Crash

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police charged a 24-year-old man with involuntary manslaughter following an investigation into a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in east Charlotte from December of 2023. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20th on Parkton Road near Albemarle Road. Officers responding to the area found an injured pedestrian and a damaged 2009 BMW 328 I.  The victim, 38-year-old Justin Travis Scott, was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. YORK COUNTY, S.C. – Police arrested a South Carolina woman after she fraudulently acquired over $17,000 in food stamps, according to the South Carolina Department of Social Services. Tricia Ann Ostapowicz, 50, was arrested on Wednesday, April 24th. She was charged with one count of fraudulent acquisition or use of food stamps, valued at more than $10,000. Between October 8th, 2020 and September 26th, 2022, officials said Ostapowicz knowingly failed to report her husband’s income, entitling her to receive benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Cubs reliever Luke Little said he had to change his glove before he entered Wednesday night’s 4-3 victory over the Houston Astros because of an American flag patch.
