DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) -- The Durham Public School Board went back to the drawing board to map out the cost of a pay raise for employees, and unanimously voted to pass the budget Thursday night. Interim Superintendent Cattie Moore proposed a $26 million budget that includes more than $8 million to cover salary increases for DPS support staff and classified employees. This plan also sets a 5% raise for the 2024-25 school year for certified employees and a 3% raise for classified employees. DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Durham police are investigating after officers said a man was found shot dead on Rose Garden Lane on Thursday afternoon. According to the Durham Police Department, officers responded at around 3:29 p.m. to a crash in the 11000 block of Rose Garden Lane. DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Deputies closed an intersection to traffic Tuesday after a teenager was shot in the face, according to the Durham County Sheriff's Office. At about 3:45 p.m., deputies said they were called to the intersection of Barbee Chapel Road and Farrington Mill Road in reference to a report of a person shot.
