Despite being swept in three sets, the Sully Buttes Chargers went out with guns blazing in the first and third sets, but still dropped a 25-17, 25-12, and 25-23 match against the 13-3 Potter County Battlers Tuesday night in Gettysburg. The Pierre Volleyball team dropped the first set to the Rapid City Christian Lady Comets on the road, but steamrolled through the next three sets for its ninth win of the season on Tuesday. The Governors took the match 21-25, 25-9, 25-13 and 25-14. After the first set win for the Lady Comets the momentum changed in the hands of the Governors who scored 15 straight points in the second set in the 16 point win. The Pierre Governor tennis team finished in sixth place as a team competing for the final time before the State Tournament at the ESD Tournament in Huron. The Governors picked up a third place finish from Jocelyn Corrales in Singles flight four while also have a third place finish by Sydney Tedrow and Kara Weiss in doubles flight one. Pierre finished at 107.5 team points in sixth place. The Governors will now be in Sioux Falls on Monday and Tuesday for the Class A State Tennis Tournament on October 4-5.
