One is dead, and another is injured after a stabbing occurred in Akron Wednesday afternoon, Akron Police said. Around 4:40 p.m., police responded to a domestic-related altercation at a home in the 1500 block of Bronson Road, police said. Upon arrival, police said they found a 59-year-old woman and a 74-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds. The alleged suspect was the woman's 40-year-old son and was still inside the home, police said. A 40-year-old Akron man has been sentenced to 15 to 20-and-a-half years in prison for fatally shooting a 45-year-old Akron mother in August 2023. According to court records, Dakinga York shot and killed Veronica Bell after a physical altercation. Police were called to the 2200 block of 8th Street SW in Akron on Aug. 12 around 1:45 a.m. When they arrived, they found Bell on the ground. She had been shot multiple times. An Akron Police officer who shot a 15-year-old boy who was holding a fake gun last month has been fired, the department announced on Monday, just hours after the Summit County Prosecutor's Office announced that a charge filed against the teen had been dropped. The Akron Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead and two others injured. It happened around 2:20 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Johnston Street. Akron Police officers helped save the life of a 15-year-old girl Thursday night after they responded to an apartment complex and found she had been shot multiple times.
