Both teams were able to show how much improvement they have made since the start of the season. On Tuesday, April 16, Berkeley Springs traveled to Frankfort High School for a multi-team event that featured teams from Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. On the boy’s side the Indians finished in sixth place overall with 22 points. Berkeley Springs played seven games in six days and was able to pick up four wins to push their season record to 8- 16. On Monday, April 15, the Lady Indians hosted the Frankfort Falcons and lost 13-2. Berkeley Springs was led by Ocean Clatterbuck (2 singles), Alaira Harrington (double), Bailee Diehl (run) and Marley Heath (run). Paw Paw Postmaster Lori Davis retires after 37-year career

by Kate Evans Longtime Paw Paw Postmaster Lori Davis officially retired last Friday, April 19 after 37 years of service to the United States Post Office. The community held an Open House Retirement Celebration for Davis on Tuesday, April 16 to honor her service to local residents and businesses. Davis first started working for the Post Office in 1987 when she began her position as Postmaster Replacement at the Paw Paw Post Office.  She held that position for 14 years, then worked as a Post Office clerk in Ridgeley for five years. Stumped about how to properly recognize the contributions of Jim Michael to Cacapon State Park and the entire West Virginia State Parks system, state park officials invented a new honorarium and presented it to Michael on April 13. Michael received the first-ever West Virginia State Parks Lifetime Achievement Award in Leadership and Volunteerism. Park ribbon cutting celebrates former superintendent Chris Hansroth

by Trish Rudder The Berkeley Springs State Park Foundation celebrated the park’s facelift on Friday, April 19 with memories, its history and a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new bridge honoring the late park superintendent Chris Hansroth, who died in 2017. The Foundation president, Pete Gordon said when he became its leader 10 years ago, he asked Hansroth what the park needed and was given three items: to restore the walls in the Warm Springs Run; replace the bridges that were too low and became clogged with debris when flooding occurred and update the non-ADA sidewalks. Widmyer Elementary gets nearly $4 million for HVAC project

by Kate Evans Morgan County Schools will receive $3,924,284 in additional West Virginia School Building Authority funding for replacement of all Widmyer Elementary heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units. The Warm Springs Watershed Association (WSWA) hosted a charrette in Morgantown last Thursday with the West Virginia Department of Transportation Environmental Compliance Officer, Doug Kirk, and the staff of West Virginia Division of Highways Environmental Resources Program Managers to examine the potential of reforestation of the U.S. 522 Bypass right of way.
