Maine State Police said they are investigating after a body was found in a river in Falmouth over the weekend. Falmouth police were called to the Presumpscot River adjacent to Walton Park at 11:49 a.m. Saturday for a report of a suspicious object. When they arrived, they said they determined the object to be the deceased body of an adult male. A Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit was called in to investigate. A fire suppression system at a Brunswick Executive Airport hangar showed deficiencies about a year before it discharged gallons of firefighting foam containing harmful chemicals in Maine’s biggest accidental spill of the fire suppressant on record, according to a recently released report. A man convicted of assaulting a child tried to flee a courthouse in Maine but two jurors and a detective quickly foiled the escape attempt. Nicholas Carter, 31, on Wednesday ran out of the courthouse in Skowhegan while handcuffed. He had been found guilty of aggravated assault against a 14-month-old child, according to the Portland Press Herald. A person died when a pickup truck rear-ended her SUV in a construction zone on Interstate 95 in Augusta, Maine, on Friday, police said. A dog in the SUV died as well, according to Maine State Police. A Walmart store in Augusta, Maine, was evacuated on Thursday afternoon due to a bomb threat. Augusta police said all customers and employees evacuated the store on Civic Center Drive around 2:20 p.m. A police bomb sniffing dog responded to the scene. North Berwick police said they were called to Buffum Road arond 4:46 p.m. Thursday for a report of a child who had been struck by a vehicle.
