Crews have contained a three-alarm blaze early Friday morning in Fremont near Interstate Highway 880, fire officials said.
Around 2 a.m., the Fremont Fire Department said on social media that its crews and Milpitas firefighters were battling a three-alarm fire commercial structure at 49103 Milmont Drive, east of I-880.

BART train service on the Red line between Richmond and MacArthur stations was suspended early Friday morning due to an equipment problem, transit officials said.
Around 5:15 a.m., BART said on social media Millbrae service will be provided by a shuttle train between SFO and Millbrae stations. The transit agency said Richmond riders should seek other means to get to MacArthur station.
BART also said extra staff are at each station between Richmond and MacArthur to guide riders to bus alternatives.

REDDING -- Each spring, everyone who's anyone in the world of aerial firefighting converges on an open field just outside Redding, California, for one of the biggest drills of the year.

SAN JOSE -- Police are investigating after a man was shot Thursday evening near Interstate 280 in San Jose.
The shooting was reported about 5:45 p.m. near McLaughlin Avenue and I-280, police said in a post on social media. The area is near the Grand Century Shopping Mall.
The man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries but no other information was available.

LOS ANGELES -- The University of California Board of Regents is expected to accept a recommendation that UCLA pay University of California at Berkeley $10 million a year for six years as a result of the Bruins' upcoming move to the Big Ten and the demise of the Pac-12.
The recommendation was made by UC president Michael Drake and will be voted on during a regents meeting Tuesday at UC Merced.

SAN JOSE -- It's a head-scratcher: Only 37 percent of recyclables get recycled but 95 percent of Californians have recycling. Most of it ends up in landfills, but one Bay Area city is hoping to remedy that situation with the help of its community.

OAKLAND – Officials with Oakland International Airport gave final approval to add "San Francisco Bay" to its name, rebuffing claims of trademark infringement from San Francisco city officials and from SFO.
Commissioners with the Port of Oakland, which operates the airport, approved the renaming in a unanimous decision, reaffirming a vote held on April 11.
