Arrest made in Hawthorne Country Club fire

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Massachusetts State Police arrested a man in connection with the 2023 Hawthorne Country Cub fire. 31-year-old Shawn Medeiros was charged with one count of burning a building. The fire occurred on May 7 and resulted in the building being a total loss. PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Multiple police departments found no bombs at the Planet Fitness locations that were threatened in an email Thursday. The email said that shrapnel bombs were placed at gyms in Providence, East Providence, and Warwick. East Providence Police Capt. Michael Rapoza said that K-9s from East Providence Police, Pawtucket Police, and Rhode Island State Police searched the two locations in the city and found no bombs. PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Multiple local police departments are investigating bomb threats to Planet Fitness locations around Rhode Island after an email threat. Gyms in Providence, East Providence, Warwick, and Rumford were specifically named in the threat. The Planet Fitness Corporation told ABC 6 that all locations are open. Career criminal sentenced in cocaine trafficking case

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A New Bedford man was sentenced to serve eight to 10 years in state prison in a cocaine trafficking case. The 407 Park Street home of Benjamin Duarte, 54, was searched by New Bedford police on April 1, 2016. The search uncovered 51.99 grams of cocaine and two and 3/4 pounds of marijuana. FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A Braintree man who was arrested with nearly 500 grams of fentanyl was sentenced to six to six-and-a-half years in state prison last week. Robinson Paradis-Feliz pleaded guilty to the charge of fentanyl trafficking. New Bedford police stopped Paradis-Feliz’s vehicle on June 27, 2019 at approximately 5 p.m. and located a pink Victoria’s Secret gift bag stabled shut.
