Miriam Berry is thrilled to play a small role in a Lifetime movie to be filmed at Mississippi College and downtown Clinton. The Lifetime production is titled “Teacher’s Watching,” and it is among four film projects across the Magnolia State this winter. The Mississippi Supreme Court has set a date for oral arguments to be heard in the city of Madison’s lawsuit challenging the legitimacy of Initiative 65—the medical marijuana program approved by an overwhelming majority of Mississippi voters. Businessman pleads guilty to dumping waste into Jackson Sewer System

A local businessman has admitted to dumping over three million gallons of waste into the City of Jackson’s sewer system. Andrew Walker, owner of Rebel High Velocity Sewer Services, pled guilty in Federal District Court before Judge Kristi Haskins Johnson to having illegally discharged industrial waste into the capital city’s sewer system from November 2016 to October 2017. MSDH confirms 2,186 new COVID-19 cases, 38 deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 2,186 new cases of COVID-19. The latest report brings the state’s total up to 272,662. With the confirmation of 38 additional deaths, 5,983 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus. *MSDH Note: 23 COVID-19 related deaths occurred between December 5, 2020 and January 22, 2021, identified from death certificate reports.
