ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Canandaigua man plead guilty to child porn charges on Wednesday. The U.S. Attorney's office stated that Preston Herbst, 27, of Canandaigua, NY, pleaded guilty to transferring obscene matter and faces a maximum of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Prosecutors said in July of 2023, Herbst was sentenced to serve 36 months in prison following a conviction for a federal charge of possession of child pornography. ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Flu season is officially over as the state Department of Health announced Wednesday that influenza is no longer prevalent New York. The 2023-24 season got off to an early start with health leaders and hospital systems sounding the alert in October. ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Three Wayne County men were arrested on gun-related charges on Wednesday. According to NYSP, on May 7, search warrants were conducted at the homes of three 18-year-old men, Oakley Billings of Marion, Nicholas Frizelle of Williamson, and Colin Galloway of Williamson. ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — James Moore, the longest-serving inmate in New York State, was confirmed dead by the NYS Department of Corrections. Moore died on April 30, 2024, at Coxsackie Correctional Facility. His cause of death is still being determined and will be released by the Albany County Medical Examiner's Office. Moore was convicted in 1962 after he pled guilty to the murder of 14-year-old Pamela Moss. Investigators said he raped and strangled Moss.
