Hi friends, I hope you are all doing as well as can be expected in these super strange times. My husband is fortunate enough to be able to work from home while the office is shut. He had this past week off work for annual leave and it was the weirdest experience. He got a load of odd jobs done around the house while I looked after the little one which was great, but it was the strangest ‘holiday’ week to date! It was nice to have some family time on our government approved exercise walk each day, but usually we have all sorts planned. There were no trips to the beach, no visits to family and f ..read more

Theme Park Lock Down

Theme park season is here! Anyone who knows me, knows that I love a good roller coaster. I remember a time when I was little when my parents took me to a local theme park and I was too short to go on the big roller caster. I was devastated. My whole day was ruined, until my mum agreed to help me out. She tied my hair up high on top of my head and that gave me the extra height I needed to trick the ride attendant that I was that inch or so taller than I actually was. That day I had my first ride on a real roller coaster, and I’ve been hooked ever since. The depressing reality for us adrena ..read more

Covid-19 is without a doubt the most unsettling thing that has happened to the world in recent times. Many of us have had our normal lives turned upside down with home working, self-isolation and crazy scenes in the supermarkets…and that is if you manage to stay healthy! In a world where loo roll and hand sanitiser are the new currency of choice, it can feel a bit pointless to carry on as normal. My husband and I have been self-isolating for  6 days at the time of writing, and honestly it has taken me until now to realise that it is important to try and maintain some version of  ‘busi ..read more

How I Accidentally Landed My Book Deal

2014 was a good year for me. Me and my now husband bought our first home, and I became a published author. A few years earlier, I was in my early twenties and I was working part time as a travel agent on the high street. My boss was a psycho, I wasn’t making as much money as I would have liked, and there weren’t any more hours for me to pick up even if I had wanted them. I started to look for alternatives. One of my friends had a boyfriend who ran a ghost hunting tours. It was a bit like the TV show ‘Most Haunted’, but with less night vision camera work and less snot. We were all ..read more

When my husband and I decided that I would not return to my job after my maternity leave ended, I had a bit of an existential crisis. Okay, that’s way too dramatic, but I definitely had a significant wobble! On the one hand I was thrilled. It would be amazing to stay at home, help our daughter learn and watch her grow instead of having to drop her off with someone else each morning then spend the day missing her and watching the clock. One the other hand, what on earth would I do for money? Thankfully, the bills were taken care of with my husbands’ income, but after years of working fu ..read more

When I decided to take my copywriting to the next level and start a website, something interesting happened. I was forced to look at the path that had brought me here and, in a way, evaluate myself. Anyone who has ever had a brush with ‘Impostor Complex’ will be painfully aware of the internal dialogue surrounding ‘not being ready’ that a lot of people go through when they are about to embark on something that they really care about. This phenomenon can creep into many areas of our lives, but most people who have experienced it will agree that it raises its’ ugly and unwelcome head most of ..read more

Comfortable In The Foothills

It is easy to stay where you are when you are comfortable. This is the reality for most of us.  It doesn’t really matter where or how you apply this statement, it always seems to ring true. It is easy to stay sitting on the sofa, rather than to get up. It is really easy to get ignore your alarm and stay in your nice warm bed on a morning, and it is definitely easy to stay in your current, familiar and safe job. You know how it all works, what is expected of you and where you fit into the whole grand scheme of things. But just think about what mi ..read more
