USC unveils monument honoring desegregation trailblazers

  COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– This past September at USC’s 50th Anniversary of Desegregation ground was broken for a star commemorating USC trailblazers. On Friday morning, April 19, that statue of Robert Anderson, Henrie Monteith Treadwell and James Solomon Jr. was unveiled on campus at the historic horseshoe. The three honored by the school with the statue enrolled at USC on September 11, 1963. They became the first Black students since reconstruction to be admitted to the university. Hyundai’s announcement on Thursday comes a day after an ad from the automaker reportedly appeared next to an antisemitic and pro-hilter post. Starbucks is giving its plastic cups a makeover

  (CNN)– Starbucks has redesigned its plastic cups to be more sustainable. The new cups look similar to the current ones but they are made with up to 20% less plastic. Starbucks projects these new cups will keep more than 13-and-a-half million pounds of plastic out of landfills annually. It’s part of the company’s goal to reduce its carbon output in half by 2030.
