The latest round of data included in the CDC’s case count shows an additional case of monkeypox in Maryland, up from a total of 14 cases reported last Friday. BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Maryland’s five sportsbooks handled more than $19 million in bets in June, paying out nearly $18 million in prizes to bettors, the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Commission announced Monday. The result was that the five sportsbooks raked in a combined $1.3 million from last month’s wagers. Minus payouts and other amounts, that worked out to more than $1.2 million that was subject to a 15% tax by the state. Officers responded at 3:23 p.m. Saturday to the 600 block of Mosher Street, where they found the victim, identified as Terrontae Stancil. BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A judge found Tuesday that Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby cannot afford expert witnesses in the federal criminal case against her, and ruled the court would help cover the cost of her defense. Mosby requested assistance through the Criminal Justice Act, which allows court funding to defendants who are found to be “financially unable to obtain expert services necessary for an adequate defense,” according to the order. BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A 63-year-old woman died in a hit-and-run boating crash on Sunday on the Magothy River, police said Tuesday. Maryland Natural Resources Police officers responded at 10 p.m. to the river in Anne Arundel County for the crash.
