Ask Amy: Parents worry about son’s unemployment
Loveland Reporter-Herald
by Amy Dickinson
2m ago
Dear Amy, I’m a 45-year-old woman, married to my wife for five years. My issue is my 21-year-old son, who lives with us. He’s a good kid but he’s now unemployed (for four months) and spends his days playing video games. My son is very book smart, had a full ride to a prestigious university, but only stayed for a year and a half. He recently applied for the police academy, but he never really follows through with anything. He also dropped out of the fire academy – because he was bored. He was working as a forklift operator while in school. He’s always done very well in school, but he’s laz ..read more

Larimer County seeks further public input on proposed Thornton water pipeline
Loveland Reporter-Herald
by Will Costello
5h ago
The Larimer County commissioners spent Monday evening, not for the first time, hearing arguments for and against a pipeline through the county that would bring water owned by the city of Thornton purchased in the 1980s to Thornton proper. Proponents, largely comprised of Thornton representatives and housing developers in the area, argued during a lengthy public comment portion of the land use hearing that the water is crucial to further housing development in the growing suburbs north of Denver and would help address the limits to that development. Opponents worried about the health of the Pou ..read more

One of 10 gray wolves reintroduced to Colorado in December was found dead in Larimer County, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service confirmed. Federal officials found out about the wolf on Thursday, agency spokesperson Joe Szuszwalak said in an email Tuesday night. Initial evidence shows the wolf likely died of natural causes, Szuszwalak said. U.S. Fish and Wildlife officials will investigate the death under the Endangered Species Act, and the wolf’s carcass was sent off for a necropsy to determine cause of death. Szuszwalak did not answer questions regarding whether the wolf was found on public o ..read more

Loveland Reporter-Herald
by Corey Masisak

WINNIPEG — The New Jersey Devils returned to the Stanley Cup Playoffs a year ago after a five-year absence, but Miles Wood’s personal experience was not the best. He was a healthy scratch for four of the seven games in the first round against the New York Rangers, in part because of a couple of penalties he took that contributed to the Devils starting in an 0-2 hole. His first postseason game with the Colorado Avalanche went a little better. Wood scored a goal, nearly had another were it not for what his coach called a “quick whistle,” and played the second-most ice time of his career in a 60 ..read more

Jamal Murray’s greatest shot: Before buzzer beater to stun Lakers, Murray needed encouragement from Nuggets
Loveland Reporter-Herald
by Bennett Durando

In the Denver Nuggets’ practice gym, a backpack was on the line. A designer backpack with a speaker built into it. An NBA star player’s backpack. Four of Jamal Murray’s high school friends and basketball teammates were visiting him in Denver. It was still early in his NBA career, and he was showing them his office. They had made plans to play pickup together, like old times, so Murray upped the stakes by suggesting they play King of the Court for the backpack. “Say less,” Josiah Riley told him. “I’m with it.” Standard rules. Rotating one-on-one matchups. If you get a stop, you get the ball. He ..read more

The Broncos have made perhaps one of their easiest decisions of the offseason. Denver exercised the fifth-year option on All-Pro cornerback Pat Surtain II’s rookie contract on Tuesday, keeping him under contract through 2025.
