Thompson Valley, Niwot battle to scoreless draw

With postseason positioning on the line and a girls soccer league championship still at stake, Thompson Valley and Niwot battled for 80 scoreless minutes Thursday night at Ray Patterson Stadium. Despite several missed opportunities from both teams, especially for the Eagles at both the beginning and the end of the second half, neither squad could capitalize on the few chances each had. It was the second tie of the season for the Eagles, and it kept them from moving a step closer to their second straight 3A/4A Longs Peak League title — although they still lead the conference with one game remai ..read more

After closer Justin Lawrence cemented the team’s largest comeback of the season with a save in the ninth, the result was a signature moment of positivity amid a spring full of struggles. Yes, the Rockies (7-19) have still yet to win a series in eight tries after splitting with San Diego, surpassing last season’s futility in that regard while also setting a franchise re ..read more

How can Nuggets maximize Nikola Jokic’s defense in playoffs? “I’m not really good defensively one-on-one”

by Bennett Durando

If the annual playoff referendum on Nikola Jokic’s defense has already commenced, Jokic himself might have put an amusing stop to it during the first round. As self-deprecating as ever, he didn’t mince words when asked how he can guard Lakers center Anthony Davis better after a barrage of buckets forced Michael Malone to cross-match, hiding Jokic on a lesser scoring threat in Game 2. “He’s an offensive monster, and defensive, too,” Jokic said. “… He’s a really good offensive player. And I’m not really good defensively one-on-one. Let’s say it like that.” Jokic chuckled as he finished, bracingl ..read more

Hamas again raises the possibility of a 2-state compromise. Israel and its allies aren’t convinced
Longmont Times-Call
by Associated Press

By The Associated Press Hamas has said for more than 15 years that it could accept a two-state compromise with Israel — at least, a temporary one. But Hamas has also refused to say that it would recognize Israel or renounce its armed fight against it. For Israel and many others, especially in the wake of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack that spurred the latest war in Gaza, that’s proof that Hamas is still irrevocably bent on destroying Israel. The United States and European countries have joined Israel in shunning the group they have labeled a terrorist organization. For some observers, Hamas has signaled ..read more
