Dear Amy, I’m a 45-year-old woman, married to my wife for five years. My issue is my 21-year-old son, who lives with us. He recently applied for the police academy, but he never really follows through with anything. He also dropped out of the fire academy – because he was bored. He was working as a forklift operator while in school. He’s always done very well in school, but he’s laz ..read more

NIWOT — The margin for error dwindled as the rain grew stronger in Tuesday night’s Skyline-Niwot girls’ soccer game. None of it would spoil an expert standoff in goal, though, as the Falcons and Cougars settled for a scoreless stalemate. “Obviously, I was hoping she would make a mistake,” Skyline junior netminder Lauren Pratt smiled as she talked about a counterpart who was just as good on this night, Mariah Fletemeyer. “That’s all you can hope for, really.” Flawless, in conditions anything but — Pratt and Fletemeyer took turns making stops amid a second-half downpour, each time saving their p ..read more

The Larimer County commissioners spent Monday evening, not for the first time, hearing arguments for and against a pipeline through the county that would bring water owned by the city of Thornton purchased in the 1980s to Thornton proper. Proponents, largely comprised of Thornton representatives and housing developers in the area, argued during a lengthy public comment portion of the land use hearing that the water is crucial to further housing development in the growing suburbs north of Denver and would help address the limits to that development.
