MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Shelby County Juvenile Court and Clerk's Office will reopen in temporary buildings on Monday following an emergency closure due to asbestos, mold and lead paint.
The clerk's office will be open at noon on Monday in temporary buildings, while court hearings will be heard in front of the building beginning Tuesday at 9 a.m.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Pickleball has taken over the country in the past few years. Now, the game is taking over Memphis.
John and Leslie Daniel have transformed Bartlett’s old Malco movie theatre into an indoor pickleball facility. Like millions of others, the pandemic led the Daniels to the game.
“We bought two paddles and we started playing. All of a sudden, we had 20 people from our building playing every weekend together,” said John Daniel, co-owner of Bluff City Pickleball.
Those weekend games allowed the Daniels to stay active after multiple health crises and a decade of marriage.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Friars Point Road in Clarksdale, Mississippi is set to close on Monday, and will not reopen for a year, according to the Clarksdale Police Department.
Friars Point Road is the main road typically used to access Coahoma Community College, but an alternate route will be available.
The CPD says that if you are coming from Clarksdale or Cleveland, Miss., or areas in that direction, follow these instructions to reach the community college:
Take Highway 61 North.
Continue on Highway 61 until you reach Eagle Nest Road.
Turn left onto Eagle Nest Road.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two former Memphis Police officers have been indicted, accused of causing a deadly wreck during an unauthorized pursuit last year, then leaving the scene of the accident without aiding the victims.
Marquavius Williams and Ontarian Malone Jr. are charged in the indictment handed down Thursday with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving death, four counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving injury and six counts of official misconduct.

This Shelby County Clerk's Office has been late opening its doors for two days in a row.
One resident, LaVon Hinds, says he came to the clerk’s office on Elvis Presley Blvd to get his tags. He has been without tags for six months.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris has put forth to commissioners what he calls the toughest financial plan he has ever had.
The mayor wants to pump millions into both the juvenile court system, as well as adult court. In the 112-page proposed budget, there is no proposed property tax increase, but there is also no room for new employees.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Jonesboro, Arkansas man was sentenced to 45 years in prison for stabbing his wife to death in 2023.
Andre A. Isabell, 46, pled guilty to first-degree murder in the Craighead County Circuit Court on Wednesday. He was charged in the fatal stabbing of his wife, Samantha Phillips on May 15, 2023.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Two people are dead following a shooting incident Thursday evening in Maury City, Tennessee, according to the Crockett County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say they responded to the shooting at 3230 Highway 80 at 4:45 p.m. where they found a woman shot and unresponsive.
1 dead, 2 injured in officer-involved shooting in Raleigh; TBI to investigate
They also say they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
Both victims were pronounced dead, deputies say. They were husband and wife.
