Art/life goals for 2020 & recount of my 2019
Confessions of an Art Addict

Happy 2020, everyone! It’s that time of the year again… So, now it might be a good time to reflect on the good things we accomplished – and not – while we plan for a better 2020. Such a joke considering how 2020 went… Oh well, who would have know? You might like it more or less, but if you’re a blogger, artist or any other business person, you need to keep a clear vision of what you want & what you plan to achieve, even if you only do it once a year. Believe me, I’m not a big fan of “new year goals” or “resolutions”, as most times it implies they’re set but never achieved. It doesn’t req ..read more

My artistic journey – so far
Confessions of an Art Addict
by Patricia Pedroso

What I’ve learned and what I’ve changed It’s been a bit since I started blogging, so, I feel like it’s time to introduce myself, my art and talk about my artistic journey thus far. I don’t want this blog to be only centred around my art and myself as an artist. But to make it a place to learn, talk about different experiences in an artist life and whatever experience & advice I can give you with what I’ve learned so far. I remember reading a post in an art blog once that said: all artists blogs should have at least one blog post talking about their journey and – maybe more than – one about ..read more

I take one week off to make Art: Self-imposed Art Challenge
Confessions of an Art Addict

Doesn’t go as planned… Today I come to you with an Art Challenge of my own! – Well, maybe someone else has done it before but I wouldn’t know… A few weeks ago, it occurred to me that I should take some time off – one week sounded good enough – everything else & just make art. Why? Well, there are definitely a few reasons that I’ll go into detail later, but the main one was that I needed to dedicate more time to art, especially to get a few projects done. So, I dusted off my sketchbooks & paints – it really hadn’t been that long – and I got into preparing to take that week off without h ..read more

Krita vs. Photoshop – Is Krita worth the hype?
Confessions of an Art Addict

Let’s review Krita! – the free alternative to Photoshop Today I’m reviewing Krita, the open source – aka free – drawing program! It’s a review, but as I go you’ll see I’m comparing the pros & such mostly with Photoshop cause it’s the drawing program I know the most. – hence the name of the article. I’ve already done a couple of videos on this topic on YouTube and they have been quite popular, so I thought I’ll write a post about it because of a couple of reasons. First: Let’s be real, I tend to ramble. I ramble even in blog posts – which, I know, it’s a problem. But, I tend to be better at ..read more

Art Studio Tour – 2020
Confessions of an Art Addict

I moved and now I have my own space to use as an Art Studio! It’s been a dream of mine for a while to get to have my own art studio. Till now, probably as many of you out there, I worked on a desk on my bedroom & had to share it with any other project I might have to get done for Uni. (aka – most times – sewing machine) Now, I know it wasn’t so bad. But it does feel nice when you get your own space to organize and set up your art stuff. Maybe leave the easel on the desk if you need to keep using it, cause it won’t bother anyone! This is gonna be a different, shorter & more graphic post ..read more

Confessions of an Art Addict

Do you know you can still catch up with it? Lightbox Expo it’s already called the art event of the year, and it’s only it’s second! – I can hardly wait to see what they do in the following years. Not only that, but Bobby Chiu and the team behind it worked marvels to make it work online this year with our current “special situation”. As the first time I attended and due to the current novelty of this event, I wanted to have a post where I collected my thoughts, information, resources & all the info you might want to know about it. Just to clarify, this is not sponsored or anything, I just l ..read more

Slowvember: The perfect art challenge for November
Confessions of an Art Addict
by Patricia Pedroso

What’s is Slowvember, you might be wondering? You see, Slowvember is not a challenge that’s widely known, but once I heard about it I realised that it’s a really relevant and interesting challenge for artists to take on. Actually, this October of 2020 I’ve seen a “Slowtober” trend that I’m sure originated from this one but without giving credit to Lee or anyone. One piece in a month. It’s different, right? Slowvember is a challenge created by the children’s book illustrator Lee White, which, alongside with Jake Parker – Inktober creator – and Will Terry, are the creators of SVS Learn, the onli ..read more
