DeKalb County United, one of the founding members of the Midwest Premier League, has announced two significant changes to the team and executive staff. In any case, here’s Justin’s first appearance at smallworld with a timely recap of yet another successful season for history-laden Bavarians SC: One of the most historic amateur soccer clubs in North America has already made its mark on the Midwest Premier League. Folks, we’ve got a new writer among us today! For the first time in a while, smallworld has brought in a guest writer. Ronan Briscoe takes charge of this post summarizing the UPSL Mid-South Conference in what will surely be seen as its most exciting season yet. He’s the voice of Nashville-based Music City SC, and he’s got plenty of insight on how the season went for every club and how things might go in the future this fall. Without further ado, here are his musings! As the guy that does commentary over Music City SC matches, I’ve learned quite a bit about the division, and with our champion a ..read more

Another week in the South Atlantic has passed by! Let’s see where it leaves us in a fascinating battle for supremacy and a national playoff place. the rankings NC Fusion U23, +0 from last week (W 4-1 over Wake). Another quality win for Fusion, who took the opportunity to distance themselves a bit from a West Virginia team who was off this week. Fusion are currently the team to beat and have a five-point cushion. Their destiny is in their hands! West Virginia United, +0 from last week (no match). United were off this week, but they’ve still got a bitter taste in their mouths from their most re ..read more

We’re back with another week of WPSL action in the southeast corner of the country. The usual suspects are still top and still undefeated, and there’s plenty more to unpack as well. the rankings Nashville Rhythm, +0 from last week (W 2-0 over North Alabama). It was another strong showing for Rhythm, even though they left it late and had to score their two goals in the second half. Only a miracle would keep them away from the Southeast crown now. Alabama FC, +0 from last week (unconfirmed v SSA). We don’t yet know what happened in Alabama’s match with SSA, but either way, we’d be shocked to se ..read more

The Peach State took the cake this week! All three Georgia-based clubs got wins, and they each improved their standing in so doing. Let’s see where that puts us in terms of the power rankings. the rankings Georgia Revolution, +0 from last week (W 3-1 over Metro). This was a predictable one. The Revs look impossible to stop, and they should roll with this momentum all the way into the number one seed for the division playoffs. Georgia Storm, +0 from last week (W 3-1 over North Alabama). Storm looked like the much better side that they are in this one. They’re pretty clearly the second-best sid ..read more

Well, things got awfully interesting in the midweek and made week 7 a fascinating one. In a division where only first place is guaranteed a spot in the national playoffs, the battle for top dog is being tightly contested. Let’s see how things are situated throughout the table with our rankings. the rankings NC Fusion U23, +1 from last week (W 5-0 over Wake AND W 2-0 over VA Beach). West Virginia United, -1 from last week (L 0-3 to Otters AND W 4-1 over NCFC). These were two game WVU would have expected to win, and they only lived up to expectations at the second time of asking. Our league leaders continue to dominate for the time being! Nashville Rhythm beat their biggest competition this week and stay atop the power rankings as a result. Let’s see how things are shaking out just past halfway through the season. the rankings Nashville Rhythm, +0 from last week (W 2-1 over Alabama AND D 0-0 with Red Wolves). It didn’t always look that way, but Rhythm were the best team on the night and that’s been the case all season. Alabama were at their best this weekend and scored first in Murfreesboro, but Nashville equalized through Peyton DePriest by halftime and found the win ..read more
