As parents of two children, the goal my husband and I set for ourselves is not only to teach our children about God but to give them the desire to follow Him. Our hope is that with this knowledge they will live their lives for Jesus. Raising Kids to Follow Christ: Instilling a Lifelong Trust in God by Lee Ann Mancini seeks to help parents and caregivers teach children to become disciples who follow and live their lives for Jesus. Each day the world seems to be falling apart more and more, and this means our teaching our children about Christ is so important. The saying is “If we don’t teach ou ..read more

Cabrini ~ A Movie Review
The Life We Build
by Yvonne
3w ago
In the past few years, there have been very few movies released in the theaters that I would pay to see. Many movies that are being released have undeveloped stories and characters or contain material that I don’t enjoy. For these reasons, I am so glad to see Angel Studios working so hard to bring movies that inspire, encourage faith, and bring light to the love of Jesus. Cabrini is a movie that embodies all of those aspects. The movie is set to release on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2024, and you can buy tickets now! A Few Facts From the director, producers, and writers of Sound of ..read more

Verse of the Week ~ Luke 6:27
The Life We Build

I am working on getting back on track with my blog post schedule. For a bit, I needed to put my full attention on my family and home. Now I am ready to add the blog back into my life more regularly. I have missed writing the verse of the week post, I love looking into the Bible and sharing God’s word. Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner (two days to be exact), the topic of Love came to mind. But this verse isn’t the typical way we think of love. Last night, my daughter and I were sitting on the couch. The Super Bowl was on in the background and I was half watching, not totally inve ..read more

Winter Bulletin For Church
The Life We Build
by Yvonne

One of my favorite things to do is to create bulletin boards for our church. I am blessed to own a Cricut Venture machine to help with the cutting of letters and some graphics. For this bulletin board poster, I chose to only use the Venture to cut out my letters and decided to use watercolor and acrylic paint to create the scene. The winter months for me are a time of rest and stillness. Well, that is of course if the weather allows us to not be moving snow around. As we begin the new year I like to sit and reflect on God, this means to meditate on His word and worship Him through song. Life g ..read more

My husband and I have been fans of The Chosen since it began and we have been patiently waiting for Season 4. Temperature Blanket ~ A Crochet Project
The Life We Build
by Yvonne

It has been a few years since I have picked up a crochet hook. I stopped for a bit to teach myself how to knit. I did knit a few dishcloths and a hat. I was in the process of making my daughter a scarf when one of our dogs decided to chew the bamboo needles and yarn. Then I pretty much just put it all away and even gave away a small garbage bag of yarn!! Life got busy over the past couple of years and finding the time or energy to crochet or knit just didn’t seem appealing. But after the Christmas season and making some gifts for people, I really wanted to get back into crocheting. I’ve always ..read more

Walking Through Grief and Healing
The Life We Build
by Yvonne

I thought I knew grief. I’ve felt grief, walked through darkness, and healed. But this grief was entirely different. I had no idea it would take me on a different journey. There are still days that I feel the sadness and it feels fresh. I hate those days. Healing is a whole new road, it’s not the same as I’ve experienced before. I’ve experienced the loss of a Great-Grandmother, a Grandfather, an Aunt, an Uncle, a cousin, my bonus Grammy, and friends, and miscarried our first baby. From all this, I thought I knew grief and how to handle it. But there is so much I didn’t know and am still learni ..read more

Journey to Bethlehem ~ Movie Review and Digital Code Giveaway
The Life We Build

The story of the birth of Jesus has been told in many different films, but I never seen it in musical form. My daughter and I are very interested in musicals so we were eager to see Journey to Bethlehem after seeing the trailer. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, check it out below. However, the movie was not coming to our local theater until the first week of December. So while we waited for the movie we found the soundtrack to listen to on Amazon Music. It immediately became a favorite on our playlist. Journey to Bethlehem stars some familiar faces from Hollywood and the Christian music a ..read more
