Our Haunted Travels

On July 23, 2022 we took a ride down Route 77 to visit the Fort Laurens Museum and Fort located in Bolivar, Ohio.  We didn't know much about the fort, only that it was haunted and the only American Revolutionary War fort in Ohio.  Of course we had to visit. The fort was built under the orders of Lachlan McIntosh, an American commander in 1778. The commander was sent to the Ohio territory to defeat the British-allied Wyandot people and attack the British in Detroit. With winter approaching, McIntosh decided to delay any affirmative action or attacks until the spring. The men construc ..read more

History of the Star Spangled Banner
Our Haunted Travels

In July of 2013, we traveled to Washington, D.C. and saw "Old Glory" in the National Museum of American History.  This later inspired us to create a video that talked about the history of The Star Spangled Banner. Francis Scott Key pens a poem in 1814 which is later set to music and in 1931 becomes America’s national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The poem, originally titled “The Defense of Fort McHenry,” was written after Key witnessed the Maryland fort being bombarded by the British during the War of 1812. Key was inspired by the sight of a lone U.S. flag still flying over Fort M ..read more

On June 25, 2022 we traveled down to New Concord, Ohio and visited the John and Annie Glenn Museum.  This is the second time we visited this location, and this time we took Marianne's dad and Shawn's mom.  We had a great time on this adventure. We visited this museum back in 2019 on the way back home from our Marietta, Ohio trip, but we never documented this location or made a video about it.  This time, we were going to get the visit properly documented.  The museum is located at:  72 W Main St, New Concord, OH 43762.   You can find out more about th ..read more

We have been to the Pioneer Pavilion in Youngstown several times.  It is literally right now the street from our house in the park, but on June 24, 2022, we went down to the building to finish up our documentation and to try out our new camera. Pioneer Pavilion was built in 1821, before the 1891 founding of Mill Creek Park. It was originally constructed by James Heaton as a woolen mill and evolved into a blast furnace, then a cattle barn. In 1891, park founder Volney Rogers bought the pavilion for the park. In 1893 he renovated it into a dining and dancing facility, according to "Histo ..read more

In May of 2019, we went on an adventure looking for haunted locations throughout Toledo, Ohio.  One of the locations on the list was the Maumee Bay Brewing Company which is an active craft beer brewery and restaurant.  So, we decided to stop in at this location for lunch.  So glad we did, the food was awesome. This building has been in the PANICd.com database for some time now, and Shawn has always wanted to go and visit the location.  Taking advantage of the ability to actually stop in and have lunch was actually on Shawn's bucket list since he has read about some of the ..read more

Stopping at haunted locations in Toledo, Ohio would not be complete without including the historic Woodlawn Cemetery.   Take a moment and take a drive through this beautiful cemetery, or follow along with us as we did in May of 2019. It is reported (we found through our research) that this location is haunted by a woman dressed in white who is said to be seen around the gates of the cemetery.   She often stops visitors and asks them if they have seen her daughter, then she disappears.   When we questioned if we wanted to stop here on our adventure of looking for ..read more

In May of 2019, we traveled to Toledo, Ohio for a paranormal conference.  On that trip, we went in search of other locations that have reported paranormal claims.  The West Branch of the Toledo Library is one of those locations. The building is beautifully designed.  It looks like a little cottage and is very welcoming in appeal.  If there are spirits still roaming within the building, we can see why they would want to hang out here and get caught up on some reading.  The West Toledo Branch of the Toledo Public Library opened in its present building in 1930. In 2 ..read more
