When babies teeth, they often need more from their caregivers. Here’s how I avoid delays in my freelance mom work when littles need me. Teething is painful and uncomfortable for babies. But it’s also challenging for caregivers. As a stay-at-home mom and a freelance mom with a thriving copywriting business, it can be tough to keep up when disruptions change our weekly schedules. My 16-month-old is getting his canines. It led to him snuggling in our bed all night, which means I can’t get up and be productive like I usually do to keep up with my writing business. Breastfeeding my first son was chaotic (you can read the full story in How My Short Breastfeeding Journey Isn’t a Failure). From undiagnosed lip and tongue ties that took weeks to resolve to a triple whammy of getting thrush, mastitis and an abscess all at once, it really challenged me and I had many days where I wanted to give up. But I learned a ton and stuck with it even when my son quit nursing at 10 months old. I pumped until he was 13 months old and chose to view the experience as a success. So when my second son joined the family, I was so sure that breastfeeding would go different ..read more

And more than ever, I was conscious of how much I worked and how stressed I allowed it to make me. So here’s a look at how we had tons of fun this summer without spending loads of money.  Making This Summer Memorable Without Stress or Tons of Mon ..read more

For everything that felt like it went wrong with the labor and delivery of our first child, everything felt like it fell into place perfectly with our second. It was a great experience and we realized so much more of our birth plan. Yet, he came a week early. My work to prepare for maternity leave wasn’t quite yet wrapped up and as a self-employed mom to a 2.5-year-old already, that impacted things. I got important emails during early labor. It was a Friday and people were trying to wrap things up before the weekend. That’s exactly what I thought I’d be doing – wrapping things up to make for a ..read more

We’re closing in on welcoming our second child. Ever since the first of the year, I’ve been focused on setting myself up for success while being a work-at-home mom recovering from childbirth and parenting a baby and a toddler. As a freelance copywriter and digital marketer, I can’t really take maternity leave. If I don’t work, I don’t make money. And not only that but even with a 6-week maternity leave, I’d likely lose clients. So I’ve spent the last few months creating plans with each client and preparing for welcoming our sweet little boy. The reactions have been mixed. Some people are so ex ..read more
