This place was just 10 to 15 minutes ride from The Pondering Frog where we had snacked prior to lunch.
we're here!
the restaurant is down the stairs
enjoy the cold outdoors
seaside view
I was freezing, so nope, we didn't sit outdoors. The shop feels like a fast food type of place. Order at the counter and make payment, then the food and drinks will be served to your table. We chose the cold seafood platter that had oysters, half a lobster, and prawns, and placed additional ala-carte orders for fish and chips, salmon and salad.

This was our pit-stop for some hot food after a short wine tasting at Devil's Corner. Yes, seven early eight early at 10+am, me and Tracy sipped Tasmanian wine and now, we need to refuel our tummies.
quaint cafe
The whole place gives out a childhood vibes. Fun and unserious, possibly.
pondering about life, perhaps?
pretty extensive
The cafe was fairly busy as it was near lunch time, though still a tad early. Browsed the menu and looked like they had plenty of options and also Asian food like curry noodles (or was it laksa), and rice dishes similar to those one wo ..read more

We flew from Melbourne Airport to Hobart and this is marks my first time in Tasmania! WoOooHoOoo! Thanks to the meticulous planning by the boys, we hopped onto our rental and off we went in search for lunch.
Decided to go somewhere nearby our would be accommodation for the night.
going to town
Our lunch was at a place called "Room For A Pony". Staff said don't quote her but once upon a time, indeed there was a stable for pony but now, there's none.
The restaurant/cafe looked pretty cosy from across the road, with beautiful lawn where one could feel the breeze and the bright su ..read more

We visited the Unzoo after breakfast to see some Tasmanian Devils irl and we only had an hour or two to spare before heading towards the next destination. The tickets can be booked online but we just dropped by at around 10am and got the tickets on the spot. We paid AUD55 per pax.
Welcome to Unzoo
excited to meet the Tasmanian Devils
what's an Unzoo?
let's explore!
"An Unzoo would be a reversal of the traditional concept of a zoo."
It is a novel concept and happy to have the opportunity to experience for myself, the Unzoo in Tasmania. The lady at the cou ..read more

We arrived at slightly after 4pm to check-in to Port Arthur Motor Inn. Saw the signage from the road and made a turn.
The check-in counter was at their restaurant so we went over and got the keys and our room numbers. I opted for the Queen Room or otherwise known as "Officer Row" for SGD134 (AUD155) booked via Agoda. I was at Room 8.
The rooms are all lined up in a row and one could park their vehicle right at the door step. It has an old school feels to it. The shower was alright and cleanliness can be improved, otherwise it was a comfortable stay. Am grateful for the in-room air-condit ..read more

Hmm, when in Tasmania, eat as many oysters as we could? Hehe, and thus although we just had breakfast, some pastries, we just couldn't resist to drop by Barilla Bay Oyster farm to have a-go at their oysters.
Barilla Bay Oyster Farm
let's find a parking lot
We were there rather early at about 1130am, and the place was quiet. It's a big place and one could browse the merchandise available in the main shop and there's plenty to see.

It was morning time, with a slight drizzle and we dropped by Richmond for breakfast. Tracy wanted to revisit this town so she brought us along.
Weather was not so fine that morning, so the sky was gray with a slight drizzle. Nothing that a good breakfast with a hot cup of coffee couldn't cure.

I need eggs in da morning. I really do. Hahaha.
The shop has a warm local vibe and it was cosy inside. There were two staff that morning. One more aloof while the other was more friendly.

We set off leisurely close to 9am to catch the ferry to Bruny Island. Lucky us as the wait for the ferry was relatively short. Hmm, there's a washroom near the smallish cafe at the ferry wait area but be quick as not to miss the queue! Hence got the e-ticket earlier and one just drives up to the queue. Need to show the e-ticket at the gantry. The ferry to Bruny Island was smaller than the one to Queenscliff.

Went to eat grab pho after the visit to State Library.

The shop was busy as it was lunch hour and we waited for about 15 mins for a table. Scan the QR code to order. I got myself the fatty brisket while Hence got the non-fatty version.
The brisket slices retained quite a bit of chew and the soup was certainly comforting on a cold day. The noodles were softer than expected and pretty similar to hor fun.

We were in the mood for a little bit of steak and one that doesn't requires us to cook it ourselves. Yeah, finally visiting a steakhouse during this Melbourne trip, yay!
It was an impromptu decision and on the very first evening of our Melbourne trip. Lucky us, Salina helped to secure a reservation to the restaurant on super short notice.
Its website stated "Meatmaiden is an underground steakhouse and cocktail bar in the heart of Melbourne where the classics are reimagined, reinterpreted and twisted."
