Simple stupidity

Visits: 0 It never fails to amaze me how mired we are in simple stupidity. If stupidity were quicksand, we would be up to our neck in it. The amount of *Thickness’ that there is in this crazy world is quite frankly amazing, leading one to wonder not only why we are still alive, but how long do we actually have left. If one were to point fingers at the source, it wouldn’t take a geographical wizard long to aim a twitching and accusing digit at the Capitol of Thick, America.  There is no denying it. The facts are there for all to see and they keep on coming… [How mind-boggling for inst ..read more

Slug-like and crafty maneuvering MP’S
The Stratfordian

If it wasn’t bad enough having a notorious self-serving, slug-like and crafty maneuvering MP of our own, I have to say I find it disgraceful that aforementioned now appears a trend. The MP as a loner is common currency. Out for himself. Unincumbered by constituents, the MP (mainly Tory) appears a law unto himself. He (mainly He and Tory-oh did I already say that) holds down a number of well-paying jobs that take him further than ever away from his base. His (other) job so it would appear, is to now represent those who pay him the most. The Constituents take second place. The problems of ‘The S ..read more

News from Stratford upon Sewage
The Stratfordian

More shock and horror in the local newspaper concerning a new type of er…human debris discovered in Stratford upon Sewage. I say new because it remains unidentifiable insomuch (I’m guessing here) it’s not turd-like. And I say sewage because it brown (and bubbly). {I actually witnessed this er…substance during a walk around the main sewage outlet once known as the river Avon. Thankfully it wasn’t a throbbing mass as shown in the Herald’s detailed photographs at the time of my witnessing, just a few um…I don’t know – slicks/segments.} Anyway, cue lots of disappointed wild swimmers (I’d be angry ..read more

Flummoxed

I must admit to being more than a little flummoxed that the death of 7 innocent charity workers in Israel garners more attention that the already 33000 dead, mostly innocent Palestinians. I was going to say ‘what have we come to’ but that’s just a cliche. We’ve always been like this. If you’re on the look-out for murdering bastards, just follow the money. A Turdberg slides its way through Stratford upon Avon to the sea

A magnificent Turdberg slides its majestic way through picturesque Stratford upon Avon to the sea. Even the genteel tourist town of Stratford upon Avon is not free from the whims and fancies of the Severn Trent Water company and its shareholders. What was once the beautiful River Avon is now a giant Turdberg where the keen fisherman/woman is guaranteed a rich supply of freshly caught sanitary towels, toilet paper and even the elusive condom. Ruminating on Depression and Anxiety
The Stratfordian

Visits: 0 I thought at first that this might not be appropriate for The Spleen website but thinking again (ruminating), I realised that a small piece like this might have some value for residents of Stratford and surrounding areas, so here goes. Let’s talk about depression and anxiety. As a an off/on sufferer of Depression and Anxiety I found a useful couple of paragraphs (somewhere online) on the nature of both those problems and how we deal with them. To cut a long story short, the article suggested that one of the major problems of both Depression and Anxiety existing is the fact that we ru ..read more

The world’s greatest playwright – William Shakespeare
The Stratfordian

Visits: 5 Personally, I’m all for Stratford upon Avon celebrating the birth of the world’s greatest playwright, William Shakespeare.  (460 this year). ‘Will Shakespeare came to me in a dream (a midsummer night’s dream) most concerned about his image. He was most insistent and said to me…‘Let it be known, far and wide, this is me’. I just wish they (Town Council?) would up the ante. I just wish they could make it classier. In my opinion the WGP (world’s greatest playwright) deserves more that the ramshackle affair we have become used to. For instance, the inclusion of so many er, for want ..read more

Harrumphing and blowing hard

Visits: 0 I’m guilty as much as anyone else, spending an awful lot of time harrumphing and blowing hard disapproval at Putin’s Russia and the recent ‘fixed’ elections. But really, have we any right? Especially when we look at the criminal actions going on in our own country and actually, what appears to be the growing similarities between Russia and the UK. For one thing, it seems we are about to have a law that limits protest. A law that will enable the police to arrest partakers in protest if they (the police) deem the protest outside of the new set of laws. Then of course we have our own se ..read more

Down but not out

Visits: 4 I have to apologise for not posting as much as I’d like and venting my own spleen. I am down but not out. This is all to an illness that I suspect would fit the description of ‘Covid’ but to be honest, who knows anymore? And anyway, I can’t afford the kit that would confirm my suspicion. We seem plagued (see what I did there?) by all sorts of bugs, viruses and mystery illnesses these days that to be honest apart from making me sick also makes me very suspicious. I don’t want to get into conspiracy theory territory here but let’s face it, this must be one of those rare times in histor ..read more

Report from the Front
The Stratfordian

Visits: 0 It really does feel like submitting a report from the front when reporting anything to do with Stratford upon Avon. Like any frontline in any war all there seems to be are casualties, deaths and more yet misery to come. Even the stuff you hear from those in charge is like war-time propaganda. The promise that help is at hand and the ‘war will be over by Christmas’ has been heard before. We are sick of it. Amongst the continual bloodletting in the form of closing shops, jobs lost and demolished buildings, we get the news from the present Commanders-in-Chiefs (Lib-Dems), that all is in ..read more
