Repentance
Even If i Walk Alone
by Tim Sherfy
17h ago
While I was praying for the leaders and people of my country to turn their hearts to Christ, I became convicted of the fact that revival occurs one heart at a time. The first heart that must repent is mine. Each of us must repent of all the ways we’ve turned away from God if we ever expect to see revival on a large scale in our land. Until we who profess Jesus as Lord have repented of not walking in the ways of God, how can we expect those who do not serve Christ to turn to Him? We first must shine the light of Jesus into the darkness. Never underestimate the power of God working through a ..read more

What Does God Require?
Even If i Walk Alone
by Tim Sherfy
5d ago
What does God require from you? Isn’t this the most important question you can ask after who you say Jesus is (Matthew 16:15-17)? What the Lord requires of you is simple and God clearly articulates in Scripture what His requirements are. Deuteronomy 10:12 says, “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you except to fear the Lord your God by walking in all His ways, to love Him, and to worship the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul?” What He required of Israel is what He continues to require from His people today. We know if we love Him, we will keep His commands ..read more

False Doctrine
Even If i Walk Alone
by Tim Sherfy
1w ago
False doctrine is everywhere today, proliferating in our churches and on the internet. It’s almost impossible to escape and can be difficult to detect if we aren’t constantly marinating our minds on the Scriptures. As J. C. Ryle wrote, “False doctrine does not meet men face to face, and proclaim that it is false. It does not blow a trumpet before it, and endeavor openly to turn us away from the truth as it is in Jesus. It does not come before men in broad day, and summon them to surrender. It approaches us secretly, quietly, insidiously, plausibly, and in such a way as to disarm man’s suspicio ..read more

Where is Your Hope?
Even If i Walk Alone
by Tim Sherfy
1w ago
In a world of hopelessness, where is your hope? Since it’s an election year in America, many place their hope in a politician or political party. Some place their hope in the amount of money they stockpile or perhaps in a certain level of success. Getting through each day surrounded by so much hate, anger, and violence requires we hope in *something* or we will crumble under despair. Putting our hope in anything in this world is putting hope in something that will not last. Perhaps it will last your lifetime, but recognize everything this world offers is temporary. Only Jesus is worthy of o ..read more

Happiness is Obedience
Even If i Walk Alone
by Tim Sherfy
2w ago
People spend an inordinate amount of time seeking happiness. It occurs to me they are searching without a plan or any understanding of what happiness actually is. I think most people figure they will know happiness when they find it, but that’s a bit like searching for a needle in a haystack. If you want to be happy, wouldn’t it be better to define what that means before embarking on the journey? The Bible gives us a good definition of happiness in John 13:17, where Jesus says, “If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.” Looking back further in the passage, we see the “thing ..read more

Remain in Him
Even If i Walk Alone
by Tim Sherfy
2w ago
In his first epistle, John encourages believers to “…remain in Him, so that when He appears we may have boldness and not be ashamed before Him at His coming” (1 John 2:28). To remain in Him not only secures our eternity, it also leads to living this life to the fullest extent possible (John 10:10). Many proclaim they believe in Jesus, but far fewer say they know Him. But how many will remain in Him until He returns? Abiding in Christ doesn’t feel natural to our fallen nature, no matter how much our soul longs to be with Him. Those who love Christ want to be full of Him and nothing else. The ..read more

Seeking Truth
Even If i Walk Alone
by Tim Sherfy
3w ago
In our day, it seems as if everyone is searching for truth. They seek their truth, social truth, religious truth, and every other kind of truth. It isn’t unique to this generation. From the beginning of time, people have sought the truth. More often than not, they are seeking truth to validate their way of thinking and living. The truth is not hard to find. It isn’t some nebulous construct or abstract notion. The truth is a person and His name is Jesus Christ. All who genuinely seek Him will find Him (Matthew 7:7). There isn’t a lack of truth to be found, there is a lack of people willing t ..read more

Prove Your Love
Even If i Walk Alone
by Tim Sherfy
3w ago
You prove your love for God by your obedience to God. This isn’t about working to earn God’s approval, but rather demonstrating your commitment to Christ. If you love Him, you will obey His commands (John 14:15). We don’t do the works we do in obedience to God to earn His favor. Instead, we obey out of an appreciation of His favor for us. It’s not about a works-based salvation, but a recognition that true salvation will encompass works done out of our love for Jesus. No one who refuses to love God will obey His commands. The works you do in obedience to your Lord are the evidence of a genui ..read more

Your Whole Life
Even If i Walk Alone
by Tim Sherfy
1M ago
Your whole life is about one thing — living for Jesus. It’s not about what you achieve, who you become, or what you do. The only thing that matters is Jesus. We live as if it’s all about us, but that is the height of delusion. Nothing you or I do will ever count for anything outside of what we do for Christ. Everything you accumulate goes to someone else when you die. Nothing goes with you, not even your reputation. Everything gets left behind. Nothing we build on earth will survive. Only what we do for Jesus will transcend time and span eternity. This life is not about you, it’s all about ..read more

Turn Off the Noise
Even If i Walk Alone
by Tim Sherfy
1M ago
To live lives wholly devoted to Christ, we have to turn off the noise. The noise is everything that keeps us from focusing on Jesus. The news, entertainment, jobs, relationships, and above everything else, our cell phones—it’s all noise. Over the last twenty years, we’ve gone from a world where only a few kept a smartphone in their pockets to a world where everyone has a smartphone in their pockets. Every day we all observe people who can’t seem to look away from their phones. Too often, we are those people. If we can’t turn off the noise in our lives, we won’t be able to sense the promptin ..read more
