World Mental Health Day 2022

Today is World Mental Health Day. That we still have an awareness day for mental health suggests that it is still not spoken about enough and that needs to change. Mental health is just as important as physical health, yet it seems much easier for people to say they have hurt their back than it does for them to say they are feeling anxious and they don’t know why. Mental health affects every single person, it has no regard for how old you are, your gender, which team you support or what job you have. Therefore, we need to all support each other to recognise this and improve our mental wellbein ..read more

Farewell Marcelo
Ladies Who Leeds

I wasn’t ready for Marcelo Bielsa to leave Leeds United. There had been rumours that this could be his last season, but I turned the radio off and figured I had 12 games to come to terms with it. I thought that we would say farewell in May in our last two games. I imagined he would walk away to a standing ovation and the crowd chanting his name with one of his protégés ready to take the reins. I didn’t expect him to be sacked in February with no prior warning and no chance to say goodbye. I think the collective fanbase is incredibly thankful to the fans who made the trip to Thorp Arch to show ..read more

We take on Watford at Elland Road today looking to take all three points before heading into another international break. Home games at 3pm are like buses all of a sudden, we haven’t had one for so long and now we have had two in as many weeks.   It has been said many times in the media and by various pundits that we haven’t won yet this season and we are looking as if we may suffer ‘second season syndrome’ but I don’t think we are and I think that will come to an end today.   We lost three players who were key members of of our Championship winning side over ..read more

We visit St James’ Park this evening to take on Newcastle United with both teams seeking the first win of the season. Steve Bruce’s team currently sit two places below us with just the one point this season and although we have had a difficult start to the season, this feels like a game we should be getting something from. We will need to achieve that without three of our central defenders. Pascal Struijk misses this game after his appeal against the red card he received against Liverpool was turned down. We are still without Robin Koch who is continuing his rehab, whilst Diego Llorente is als ..read more

Leeds v Liverpool – Premier League Preview

Today sees Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool visit Elland Road as we look for our first league victory of the season. The last time we played Liverpool at home, we were in the midst of the now-doomed European Super League idea. Whilst there were no fans in the ground, the protest outside gave Liverpool an idea of the noise that will be in Elland Road tomorrow. With no disrespect to either Everton or Crewe, I am expecting the atmosphere to be even better today. The good news is that FIFA have allowed the Brazilian players to take part tomorrow after one of the strangest decisions I have seen in football ..read more

Leeds United Women host Liverpool Feds this afternoon, in their latest fixture. The Whites come into the match on the back of a resounding victory over Barnsley Women in midweek, where Dan O’Hearne’s side ran out 5-0 winners. Laura Bartup will be looking to continue her fine form in front of goal, scoring four against Barnsley on Thursday. Liverpool Feds have enjoyed a strong start to the season, with three wins from three matches, they currently sit second in the table. Leeds have the opportunity to go top of the table should they win and results go in their favour. Fans are able to attend th ..read more

Leeds United travel to Turf Moor this afternoon to take on Burnley looking to secure our first victory of the new Premier League season. A win would be a great boost going into next week’s international break. I always struggle with the timing of this first international break, it seems like we just get back and then there is a weekend without club football again. However, we now have two England calls ups with Patrick Bamford joining Kalvin Phillips in the 25 man squad and he will be hoping to go into the camp following a goalscoring performance today. We beat Burnley twice last season and we ..read more

‘Twas the night before football.. Tomorrow is the first time that Elland Road will have seen a full crowd since March 2020. For many of our players, this will be their first experience of just what makes Leeds United so special, the wall of noise that hits the players as they emerge from the tunnel and that spine tingling moment when Marching on Together begins. Although I was fortunate to see the last home game of last season, it just wasn’t quite the same and I cannot wait for tomorrow. It genuinely feels like Christmas Eve! Going to football is not just about the game, it is the build-up an ..read more
