Over the past 18 months, the markets have been tumultuous and unpredictable. As an investor, I had to navigate through uncertain times and make decisions based on rapidly changing market conditions.
In this article, I will elaborate on my experiences and share my insights on how to invest during market volatility.
In 2022, I decided to reduce my positions due to the soaring market valuations and unprecedented bullish sentiment. At the time, I didn’t have a view on how the markets would behave in the following year, but I presumed that the upward trajectory would persist as I set off on a lengt ..read more

Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), Signature Bank, and Credit Suisse have all experienced significant setbacks, leading to increased concern for the global banking industry.
In this article, we’ll break down the events leading to these failures.
Recent Bank Failures:
On March 10, SVB was closed by regulators, marking the second-largest bank failure in US history. Soon after, on March 12, state regulators in New York closed Signatu ..read more

2022 – what a year, between rising interest rates, inflation and wars.
US stock markets responded by entering a vicious bear market. Unlike 2020, there is no fast recovery in sight with central banks around the world tightening monetary policy.
Singapore banks like DBS, UOB & OCBC have not been spared. They have given up most of their gains from the start of the year.
Unsurprisingly, I’ve gotten a lot of emails about them.
One of the big questions is whether their dividends payouts are safe?

While going out on weekends, you may have noticed that malls in Singapore are packed with crowds.
With a vaccine roll-out, the path to recovery for the economy is becoming clearer & brighter and this is certainly welcome news for REITs.
The Recovery Is Underway
Vivo City (owned by Mapletree Commercial Trust) last reported that tenant sales were back to 80% levels in September.
This bodes well considering how much more packed malls are this last 3 months.
The lack of travel has also meant that malls which cater to predominantly locals are reaping the benefits of pent-up demand.
