Hydrogen Power, The Real Answer

At Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, New York, on June 11, 2024, scientists successfully demonstrated a new efficient catalyst for separating Hydrogen from oxygen (Water, AKA H2O, is made up of one hydrogen and two oxygen molecules). They call the process the Oxygen Evolution Reaction. This new catalyst to conduct Water-Splitting is four times more efficient and should prove to be far less expensive. However, the chemistry to break water into hydrogen and oxygen is complex. Two separate, and simultaneous electrochemical reactions are require to be the catalysts for breaking ..read more

On April 18 of this year I was honored to join two other guest speakers for the induction of honorees to the Sigma Pi SIgma community in Physics. This was the third time I was invited to speak at this annual event held on the campus of  St. John's University. After several years where the event was not done in person due to COVID 19, I was happy to join the community to celebrate with the new inductees.  In the photo on the right, starting from left to right, I am standing with my fellow guest speakers. They are Sedariest Hammond, Addie Darrah, and myself. 2024 Sigma Pi Sigma ..read more

Grass-fed Chickens and Cows Some of the Grass Fed Labels Not much to this label, yet the "BUT" at the end of this Decoded Label makes you wonder, Why even have this label? The USDA says that grass-fed animals, such as chickens and cows, must get the majority of their nutrients from grass throughout their life. Chickens that are grass-fed eat a more natural diet, including digesting insects. Benefits from the chickens eating a grass diet are seen in the chickens' eggs, and meat consumed by humankind. Many similar benefits come from ..read more

GoingTrueGreen.com recently received an email from a GTG member asking for more information about how I reduced the amount of garbage that I put out for collection. For the overall majority of the year, I put out 1 garbage can per week, while comparable neighbors put our two garbage cans, twice a week. This GTG blog will try to break down how I accomplish reducing the amount of garbage on a weekly basis. Recyclable Items Waiting To Ship Out I estimate about a 40% reduction from being more acutely aware of Recyclables: Recycle all cardboard by flatten and tie up boxes ranging from deliveries ..read more

Guyana's President Exposes the Smoke and Mirrors

Sadly, the truth is that the majority of worldly politicians and so-called news media people are hypocrites with Environmental issues and Energy realities. Most actually believe they are right, they are correct, but in fact, they don’t know the complete picture. They attach themselves to power grabbing and money making narratives that in most cases cause more harm than help. Energy Offsets=Smoke & Mirrors? Additionally, others come into play with bragging-rights such as, “Our skyscraper will use renewable energy from…” (plug-in a location from anywhere else in that state). American corpora ..read more

Why Do We Tie Up Our Garbage In Plastic Bags?

Beach Clean Up: Compostable Bags or Plastic? Easy answer... To facilitate easy transportation from indoors to outdoors, and to keep garbage cans more sanitized. Now I must ask, what was done in yesteryear? There was no such thing as a plastic bag. In the "Old Days" garbage was tossed in a small pail with a handle, then carried outside to a large garbage can that was put out to the curb on collection days. Every now and then, those pails were washed out. However, plastic bags changed all that, so to avoid using plastic bags today, we need to look into Compostable Bags and taking some additio ..read more

Microscopic Plastic Update

Normal Looking Tomatoes Why are so many plastic particles found in bottled water? Or any plastic bottle! In addition to the manufacturing processes placing ten to hundreds of thousand plastic particles into the liquid, our action of screwing the cap, from a plastic bottle on and off, can cause up to 2,500 plastic particles to be added into the drink. Microplastics don’t go away, they just get smaller and smaller. A recent study also found that polypropylene feeding bottles for infants can release about 16 million particles per liter. This results in the estimated daily exposure, to infa ..read more

Counter Top Water Distiller I have been speaking and writing about using a Water Distiller for decades now. When compared to buying bottled water in plastic, having your own Water Distiller makes complete sense. Saving money, energy, and health are individual benefits. Helping to save our environment is a benefit for the world and our children. For details about distilling your own water and all the savings, just use the SEARCH box at the top of this page or click on WATER in the Category list on the right side of this page.
